The Klondike Volunteer
Fire Department hosted their
annual fish fry and auction
last Saturday, April 26 to a
host of supporters.
"We did fantastic," said
Klondike Volunteer Fire Chief
Jerry Wood. "We cleared just
over $2,400. We fed more than
before about 176... That's how
we keep it going out here."
Performing for those in
attendance was vocalist Lou
Ann Petty.
During the event Klond-
ike Fire Chief Wood unveiled
a plaque dedicating the West
Delta Community Center and
Klondike Fire Department
building to Edwin C. Slough,
Charlie Wayne Trevilion Sr.
and Charlie Wayne Trevilion
Jr.
The Department received
many baked items for the
cake auction and the winner
of the 50/50 drawing donated
the funds back to the depart-
ment.
The local fire fighters ap-
preciate all of the support
from the community.
Currently they are getting
ready for back-to-back ga-
rage sale weekends to add to
their funds and growing fuel
expenses.
♦
The Cooper Fire Depart-
ment will be hosting their an-
nual Mother’s Day spaghetti
dinner on Sunday, May 11
at the Cooper Fire Station,
beginning at 11 a.m. Tick-
ets are $5 for adults and $3
for children. Keep mom out
of the kitchen on Mother’s
Day and come join us for a
satisfying meal consisting of
spaghetti, salad, garlic bread,
a drink and dessert.
This is also a great opportu-
nity for citizens to meet their
local firefighters, tour the fire
station and inspect our equip-
ment. Bring the kids!
All proceeds will benefit
the fire department and com-
munity and go towards the
purchase and maintenance
of important, potentially
life-saving, equipment. The
CVFD thoroughly enjoys be-
ing able to host this event ev-
ery year and look forward to
seeing you and your family!

In celebration of National Tele-
communicators Week, April
13-19, the Ark Tex Council of
Governments 9-1-1 Emergency
Communications Program hon-
ored the dedicated dispatchers
of Delta County by presenting
Delta County Sheriff’s Office
with gifts and a certificate of
appreciation.
This week honored the thou-
sands of men and women who
respond to emergency calls,
dispatch emergency profes-
sionals and equipment, and
render life-saving assistance
to citizens. It is designated as a
time to recognize and thank the
men and women of public safe-
ty communications and brings
celebration, honor, and public-
ity focused on the otherwise
unsung hero on the other end
of the line. It’s a great opportu-
nity to reflect on the important
role of the 911 dispatcher as the
first, first responder.
A special thanks was extend-
ed to all of the dispatchers who
work long shifts and continu-
ally serve to provide a lifeline
to those in need!
