MEET THE CANDIDATES OF THE
SGA ELECTION
=2016,=
ANNA
LOPEZ
VP: BEN GRIFFITH
JAMIE
CARDENAS
VP: CARLOS MARTINEZ
I
Hello, my name is Anna Isabel Lopez. I am a communication major expecting to
graduate in May 2017 and I aspire to be your next student body president.
Currently, I am serving as the Big Event director and have the privilege of
holding leadership positions in other student organizations.
I strongly believe I have acquired an immense amount of awareness in
alliance and empowerment for others from being a
communication major and this year's Big Event director.
My name is Jamie Cardenas and I am running for the position of student body
president. I am a political science major with a minor in psychology, and a
member of the St. Edward's University graduating class of 2017.
I am a Resident Assistant for the Social Justice LLC in Le Mans hall, and
currently serve as a Student Government Senator, Vice President for the
Latino Student Leaders Organization, a dance instructor for SEU Ballet
Folklorico and an active member of Campus Ministry.
I have learned the importance of collaboration, exceptional work ethic,
accountability and the philosophy of macro and micro management in
demanding circumstances.I hope to utilize these skills
through the vision Ben Griffith and I have for the future of
the Student Government Association and St. Edward's University.
My involvement in the SEU community has ignited within me the passion to
serve the students of this university. As an SGA senator I have explored
expanding dining options for vegan students, as well as those with other
dietary needs. I am currently looking into making a safer campus, and obtain-
ing an American Sign Language course.
Driven by our mission, our resolution is to actively execute a more established
investment of sheerness and engagement with the students. We want to truly
reach out to the students and see what they need, not expect them
to come to us or dictate what we think they need.
We aim to reflect on past accomplishments and fallouts, more importantly
leave things betterthan we found them. That is our hope, and our mission.
If elected, Carlos Martinez and I will continue to advocate for campus safety
and campus sustainability. Our goal is to make SGA one with the student body,
allowing us to mesh and bond with those whom we will serve.
The student voice is most important in implementing change, and we
want to make sure that yours is heard.
