McMURRY WAR WHOOF
Indians In Cellar As
Result of 7-0 Defeat
Austin CoHcrt's Kangaroos
shoved the Indian footballers Into
the Texas Confeienee collai Nov
2 by defeating the IJrnvcs 7-0
hero at Fair Park Stadium
Jim Madison Austin's star
back who was constantly caus-
ing Double to the Indians all
thhiough the game provided the
necessary punch to bring the
visitors their triumph in the third
quarter by tossing a HO yard pass
to end Charley Raine for the only
score of the game Madison was
standing about the midficld stripe
when he let go with one of the
longest completed passes seen
here this season The ball landed
squarely in the hands of Raine
on the 10 yard stripe who was
tunning at full speed Though it
wasn't needed lnman came in
and convcited the exli.i point
to finish the scot ing foi the night
Five intercepted passes by the
Kangaroos was a telling factor in
the Indians defeat Early In the
third quarter the Indians made
their most serious scoring threat
of the night when they drove to
the Hoppers 25 but the drive was
halted when Vernon Townscnd's
flat zone pass to Florin Hocfcr
was intercepted by J. W. Ring
gold who returned it to the mid-
field stripe Three plays later
Madison tossed his payoff pitch
to Raine
Bill "Zoom" Schultz the Ind-
ians elusive back was the offen-
sive spark for the Bravei picking
up 55 yards in nine chances
Sellout 7 has now carrcd the ball
28 times for 170 yards over the
the full season route for an aver-
age of six plus a carry. Hoefcr for
the first time this season was
completely stopped on the ground
gaining only 29 yards m nine
times However Hoefcr still holds
the lead in the ball carrying de
partment for the Braves with 302
yards on 49 chances
As it has been in the preceding
games of this season Ncal Brad-
shaw was the defensive hero of
the game Bradshaw personally
saved the Indians two touchdowns
and was in on partically every
tackle Others who contributed
much to the Indians defense was
end Wesley Daniel tackle Mel
Jowell and center E C. Barry
Two Indians had to leave the
Austin tussle with injuries but
neither injury proved serious Pat
Patterson received a leg injury
and Barry a knee injury
