Dear Kay Colyer
I wrote you several months ago
and waa greatly helped by you
advice. You told me to try faith
and opttalam far a while, and 1
belelve that helped me more than
anything els* you said. I have
found out that one cannot worry
and have faith at the same time.
I have another problem far you
at this Mm*. R la not as import-
ant as the first one, but I will
certainly appreciate you opinion.
My dauhter Is married and is the
mother of a six months old baby.
She Uvea near me, and brings the
baby by several times a week for
me to take cate of while she does
numerous things. Of course I
adore the baby, as all grandmoth-
ers do, but I have to neglect m.v
own work In order to keep the
baby so much. I vouldnt mind
helping my daughter out once or
twice a week with the baby, but
feel that she Is really Imposing
on me now. Naturally I do not
want to hut her feelings. What
can I do about this, or am I
being selfish’ A GRANDMOTHER
I appreciate you telling me that
I have helped you. I answer all
letters as conscientiously as
posable, and 1 am always glad
to know that my advice has been
of some help. No, I do not think I
you are being selfish about keep-
ing your daughter’s baby. She
Is being very Inconsiderate of you.
Of course she doesn't realize
that she Is Imposing on you: you
are only “Mother” who Is always
available. Tell you daughter
frankly that you will he happy to
keep the baby once or twice a
week at you own convenience,
and that she will have to make
her plans to that effect Your
daughter will learn to appreciate
you more when she realizes that
you have other things to do than
Just baby sitting.
Heply to F. G.
You are probably right In you
reasoning, htg It will not help
the situation at all for you to
bring the matter up. It la more
likely to do harm. My advice la!
keep quiet and let time take carei
of t. If the other patty la guilty,
you cannot do anything about It
anyway. The wrong wOl bring
Its own punishment so you won’t
have to worry about that. |
