the Gregg's Sunday and Monday
offering.
John Ford directed and Dan
Dailey is Willie. Quite a depar-
ture from Ford’s latest directorial
efforts this picture shows his
touch is equally effective for
comedy as fur adventuie-drama.
With Dailev are Cor line Calvet,
Colleen Townsend and William
De ilia rest.
Willie, otherwise Bill Kluges,
patriotically enlists among the
first contingent of enlistees when
wai ' ome . but hi just i an’t get
overseas. His rating as a gun-
nel y instructor is loo grind for him
to be spared for combat duty.
Worst of all. while Bill's friends
in his home town of Punxataw-
1 • in . off to wai Mill
suffers the igimminity of being
stationed right m his home town!
But when Bill's break does
comes, it',, a big one in winch he
flu the Atlantic, is drooped over
France, join:- the Underground,
escapes to London with Nazi sec-
ret'. and Ihen is sent lo Washing-
ton for top ei i et conferences.
After that you can believe any-
thing that happens.
Dailev lias proved himself a
belter than must oiig and dance
man hi "Mother Wore Tights" and
in "Chicken Eveiy Sunday” he
showed his sense of comedy is as
good as his singing and dancing.
This is Dan Dailey's best role
to date and tie makes tlie most of
it.
