McMuny's annual Religious
Emphasis Week will be held next
week Nov. 8-11 according to Dr.
Harold G. Cooke president of Mc-
Murry College.
Speaker will be Dr. Edmund
Kirby District Superintendent
of the Pampa District.
Services will begin Tuesday at
7:30 p. m. in Radford Student
Life Center.
Services Wednesday through
Thursday will be held al 9:30
in the morning and 7:30 each
evening with the final ser-
vice scheduled for Friday
morning at 9:30.
The meetings which are open
to the general public are meant
to increase the spiritual growth
and outlook on the campus.
Chemistry Lab Manual
Written By Dr. Jones
A new chemistry laboratory
manual for college freshmen co-
authored by Dr. W. Norton Jones
Jr. head of McMurry's Chemis-
try Department is scheduled for
publication in November by the
William C. Brown Co. of Du-
buque Iowa.
Co-author of the manual is Dr.
Morris F. Stubbs head of the De-
partment of Chemistry New
Mexico Institute of Mining and
Technology Socorro N. M.
Another freshman lab manual
written by the two professors
was published last September
along with a textbook by Dr.
Jones. Both the textbook and
lab manual are used in McMur-
ry's freshman chemistry courses.
A textbook and accompanying
manual written earlier by Dr.
Jones were published in 1947.

and Chief McMurry in Friday
night's Homecoming Corona-
tion ceremony.
Also to be presented at Cor-
onution were the class favor-
ites: Fuyc Lowery and Bill
Curry seniors; Julie Massey
und Orland (iilbert juniors.;
Linda Adcock and Don Cun-
ningham sophomores; Pat Ben-
nett and Phil Daniel freshmen.
Miss Hill and Fox were cho-
sen for the highest campus
honors in a run-off election
Oct. 20. Also in the run-offs
were Helen Fry of Sweet-
water and Alton Kite of Odes-
sa. Other candidates in the Oct.
18 primary election were Elwan-
na Latham of Breckenride; Elna
Ruth Peterson Dallas; and Tejan
Cunningham Amarillo.
Miss Hill attended Spur Wel-
lington and Abilene high schools.
She is an elementary education
major at McMurry and plans to
teach school or enter social work
after graduation next spring.
At McMurry she has been a
member of the band Chanters
Volunteers Future Teachers of
America and Delta Beta Epsilon
social club.
She was elected favorite of her
sophomore class and was a runner-up
in the Totem beauty con
test last year.
Fox is the son of Mr. and Mrs
J. A. Fox of Fort Worth. He is a
1950 graduate of Fort Worth
Technical High School where he
began his sports career.
Captain and all-district per
former of the Bulldog team he
was the recipient of Fort Worth's
Outstanding Athlete Award in
1949-50.
Fox lettered two seasons at
quarterback for the Tarletoa
State Plowboys before transfer-
ring to McMurry. At McMurry he
is playing his third season as
number-one quarterback.
He won all-Texas Conference
quarterback honors in 1953; and
in spite of injuries which have
kept him out of three games this
year it appears to be the best in
his college career.
Homecoming football will .stmt
at 7:30 tomorrow mght in Indian
Stadium with the McMurry In-
dians facing the Howard Pane
College Yellow Jackets.
Before the game the court
consisting of Chief McMurry '
Reservation Princess and the
class favorites will be pre-
sented. They are to ride onto
the field in convertibles fur-
nished by auto sales compan-
ies of Abilene.
During the game the royalty
will hit on a special platform
according to Don Yarbrough stu-
dent council member.
At half-time the Indian
Band will present a show
centered around Europe ac-
cording to Professor R. T.
Bynum director. The aud-
ience will visit London. Paris.
Amsterdam. Zurich. and
Rome citlies seen by the
band last yerar on their Eu-
ropean tour. The Maidenettes
accompanied by the band are
to furnish the atmosphere
for each of the cities.
