The Sherman Daily Demo-

In the minds of many there
is some doubt as to the. exis-
tence of such an organization.
And in answer to that, you
may be assured, that we are

here and here strong. And in
answer to other questions that
are being asked, What do the
Knights of the Ku Klux Klan
stand, for? we set forth thg,
following statement:
The spirit of the organization
is not to persecute any man
or men, but to see that justice
is given in all cases, and no
law abiding citizen has any-
thing to fea rfrom the Knights
of the Ku Klux Klan.
Tj?e organization is compos-
ed entirely of select native
born white American citizens
whose demeanor and standing
are above reproach, and whose
character and whose undivided
loyalty to our country are be-
yond question or suspicion.
To become a member one
has to subscribe to the tenets
of practical Christianity, to-
wit, charity, unselfishness and
forbearance, and to be un-
qualifiedly opposed to any un-
ion or relationship between
church and state.
The Ku Klux Klan will not
tolerate in its membership, un-
stable, reckless, or in any way
uncertain or unreliable per-
sons, whom upon discovery
will be dropped. Every Klans-
man takes a solemn obligation
to uphold the constitution of
the United States of America
and the laws of the State
wherein he resides, and to aid
the regularly constituted au- «
thorities in enforcing the law.

known to the many hundred not mean that I we are a negro
Klansmen here. whipping organization, as
We insist on some of the some deluded persons pretend
to believe. We do not believe
in persecuting the negro, but
we sincerely want to see him
accorded justice that the white
man gets, and we want him to
refrain from social equality
propaganda.
We also believe that it is
unwise for some of the business
men that we know to carry on
with the crap games and cards
in semi-public places. This
is not setting the best example
for your boys and our boys.
We suggest that you discontin-
ue this practice.
Even if the officers of the
law are not members of the Ku
Klux Klan, we believe that if
you ask them they will bell
you that the existance of the
Klan has improved conditions
already. We stand back of
the law and we offer our ser-
vice TO SEE THAT it is en-
forced urithout fear and with-
out favor.

stand for the chastity and pur-
ity of womanhood, and want
your help in correcting the*
laxity of morals among the
boys and girls that will be the
men and women of tomorrow.
We are striving for a clean,
.noble manhood, a virtous and
intelligent womanhood, and* a
social structure that will put a
premium upon character build-
ing and to implant in the minds
of every boy and girl or man

Americanism.
