4 Southwestern Historical Quarterly
in the first seventy-four volumes certainly constitutes one of the
great assemblages of regional historical materials in this nation. In
this 75th volume we don't congratulate ourselves. Rather, we con-
gratulate that long line of contributors, editors, and supporters, who
have brought us to this 75th volume. At the same time we renew
our vows to try to make some future generation of historians as
grateful to us as we are to that host of predecessors, both distinguished
and near-anonymous.
Enough looking back. In the pages that follow we present the be-
ginning of Volume 75, and down the line, hopefully, Volume 76,
77, loo, and on and on so long as there is a Texas to analyze and
to be remembered.
