Students add personal touches
David Bavousett and Cary Wilkinson stand against the wall in their foil enclosed dorm room.
Decorating skills
lend flair to rooms
The dorm. For some it's a home away from home. For
some it's just a place they have to stay until they have
junior hours and can move off campus.
For others though the dorm room is a place where they
can express their interior decorating skills and make their
room look cute creative or just plain crazy .This page is a
salute to those rooms.
Rooms such as Mabee Hall Room 157 where David
Bavousett freshman computer science major from Pott-
boroj and. Cary Wilkinson freshman computer science ma-
Por from Garland live. They have tin foil covering the walls
and the ceiling. Also in residence are the space-age com-
puter systems owned by the duo.
"We need this to go in the paper before open house"
Bavousett said. "That way people will come visit our
room." Mabee's open house will be Monday evening.
Kay Donne Cockburn freshman finance major from Iowa
Park and Kari Robnett freshman physical education major
from Iowa Park have a slightly more sophisticated approach
to interior decorating.
Robnett's father built lofts that lift the beds about six feet
above the floor. The lofts are painted a dark turquoise blue
fco match the decor in the rest of Room 324 in Nelson Hall.
Also residing with Cockburn and Robnett is a stuffed pig
named Schmorky a close friend of Cockburn's who is in
the photo with her.
Teddy bear fever seems to have struck Room 357 of
Gardner Hall. Holly Evans freshman elementary education
major from Dallas and Dawn White freshman elementary
education major from Garland have teddy bears on the bed
on the walls and on the bulletin board. No stuffed pigs
however were to be found.
White and Evans knew each other before they came to
ACU and had planned to be roomates. Evans' mother came
with them and made curtains to match the bedspreads ad-
ding a homey touch to the room.
Dorm rooms may all look the same when school starts
but they don't look the same anymore. That is what turns
them into a home away from home and makes living in
them just a little bit easier.
