FISHING WITH A FISHLINE FOUR
MILES LONG.
In the March American Magazine
Cleveland MofTett writes a highly en-
tertairilng article in his “Doing the
impossible” series entitled, /“Living
Wonders of the Deep Sea.”, He do
scribes important discoveries report-
ed by oceanographers fishing three
or four miles down in the'aea. Th*
boat that has been used for this pur-
pose by scientists for thirj/years is
the “Albatross.” Following is an ex-
tract from Mr. Moffett’s article.:
“The ‘Albatross’ fishes with- a» line
three miles long, often four miles
long, sometimes six miles long or
over, a line of slender ‘cable, but
wonderfully strong, rolled dlf a deck
winch by a sputtering * steam engine,
that will bring up from the ocean
