Texans Continue
To Buy U. S.
Saving Bonds
“Texans aiA,.hot only patriotic,
as evidenced by their record pur-
chases of Hi S. War Bonds dur-
ing the; war years,” Nathan
Adams, State Chairman of the
Advisory Committee for Texas,
declared,. “they are also thrifty.
With the war over, Texans con-
tinue to buy. U. S. Savings Bonds
in.’ a • satisfactory-^mariner with a
total of $17,681,000.00 invested
id Texas, during :January-”
“Availability ofiL. S. Savings
Bonds with , the same rate of in-
terest as War and Victory Bonds
is a direct result .of 'demands by
management, employee^,;. and
schools throughout «the land,” he
continued. “Savings Bonds are
being handled on : the same basis
as ' War Bond purchases with pay-
roll savings plans, banks, schools,
and other issuing agents. Too
much stress cannot be put on the
value Of accused savings through
Savings Bonds investment for
both the individual and the na-
tion. The individual should con-
tinue to save for his own security
and for the security of the fin-
ancial structure of his country.”
“The best way to safeguard
the country from ruinous infla-
tion is for individuals to continue
to invest in U. S. Savings Bonds,”
Mr. Adams concluded.
National sales of E Bonds in
January amounted to $640,900,
000.00, which was 80 percent of
the January, 1945, rate, accord-
ing to figures released by the
Savings Bonds Division of the U.
S. Treasury. Redemptions, for the
month amounted to only 1 per
cent of all the outstanding E
Bond holdings.

OF “SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY”
It’s the little things that make the difference in the per-
formance of your Car or Truck. . . And it’s the little
things as well as the big ones that get careful attention
in our shop.
The State Highway Department recently warned
that at least 50 per cent of the cars now on the road are
unsafe ... This is due to neglect of having them pro-
perly cared for. Why take these chances? We have just
installed a Breakdrum Lathe, the only one in Cottle
county. This enables us to put any brake in condition
so that the State Highway Department would approve
it.
We do washing, greasing and expert cleaning and waxing. We also
fix flats. Your car will likely have to last you for some time jyet. Let us put
it in safe driving condition and real serviceable use. The same thing holds
true with your Truck.
