Dear Sir: What will It cost to sow
ten acres half wheat and half daisy
mixed? and what’ll the crop be
worth?
We don’t know what daisy-seed
costa, nor how bulky It Is; we sus-
pect half wheat and half daisy
would make a big crop of daisies,
and last a long time; tbe wheat
might lie short.
The parable throws some light on
tbe cost of a paint ball whitewash.
White-wash, mixed half-and-half
with paint. Is all-paint in look and
feel; Indeed nine-tenths of the
“paint” lu tbe store* Is part white-
wash; some half, some, some less.
Paint has to be spread with the
brush, tbe surface prepared, the lad-
ders, scaffolds, pulleys and ropes ar-
ranged and moved, there Is a great
deal of labor In putting paint on; It

What doe* It cost to paint white-
wash? Just kite same. Half white
wash? Just the same. It doesn’t
seem worth while, for tbe white-
wash does barm, not good.
Will the paint bold tbe whitewash
fast? or the whitewash loosen the
paint?
Better paint pure paint, the least-
gallons paint, the least-money paint,

“mens” of polk greens lust week and
he don't deny that he enjoyed them.
Many old Texans will recall the, days
liefore garden sass was raised in
Hbundauci in this StatA. and they
ofteu sat down at the noon iileul to
partake of polk greens and finished
with sheep sorrel pie. In those old
days there were many good tilings
to eat-tbut the present generation Is
not aware. Those were the days of
crackling bread, corn dodger, or a
■one baked In a Dutch oven on the
earth; there was fried venison with
Its sop to wallop the dodger and
pone In; honey Irom the old gum In
the orchard or wild honey gathered
from bee trees; sorghum, home
made, that has never been equalled;
there was mastfed bacon and ham,
smoked with hickory chips, and as
Juicy and sweet as sugar; an oc-
casional diet of souse helped out;
persimmon lieer was brewed and en-
joyed; then were dewberries, hluck-
lierries and wild strawberries; but
the list Is entirely too long to enum-
erate. Those were “flttln” days
and will tie remembered with regret
by our pioneer citizens.
