program prepared by a commit-
tee appointed by County Supt.
G. A. Stierling of Fayette County
teachers representing eight
counties met at Flatonia April
20th«22nd 1911, and reorganized
the South Texas Teachers Assn.
Nothing can better set forth
the purpose of the association
than what has been said of the
Flatonia meeting by school men
who were in attendance. There-
fore we quote, from a few of
them:
“I feel that this meeting # of
the South Texas Teachers Asso-
’ ciation is productive of much
good. . It tends to prepare teach-
ers better for that broader life^
into which they are to conduct
the future men and womep of the
land. Contact with great diver-
sity of thought and aim has a
broadening influence and organ-
, tzation of our forces enables us
to formulate plans for the im-
provement of our schools in tiiis
territory. . May the little stream
- originating herer swell into a
mighty stream, most powerful
in its influence upon the educa-
tional thought and sentiment in
this territory.”—A. J. Dippel.
' Flatonia meeting was a gather-
ing of earnest, enthusiastic
BChooll people. The discussions
were inspiration^ and helpful to
those who attended. We feel
that much has been done for the
tdw&feftl cause in South Texas
—X. G. Covey.
The meeting of the South
Texas Teachers Association at
Flatonia was an enthusiastic
v, meeting. I feel that it was an
inspiration to every one to at-
V tended.—C. A. Peterson,
j The' South Texas Teachers
Association will be an institution
of great good. I have found this
meeting very enjoyable and very
helpful. — Joseph Hatchitt.
The South Texas Teachers As-
sociation has been a success.
Supt Gillespie and his splendid
people have entertained royajly.
We believe this meeting will re-
- suit ip great. good for Texas. —

um, April 5t.h and 6th and come
prepared to-take active part in
the discussions, thereby improv-
ing ourselves for better work, at
the same time help our fellow-

sentiment for better schools in
this section of the state.

intends adding another story to j
the building owned by him front- j

property in rear of his dry goods

in the right direction and one
which will be greatly appreciated
