I SEE in the Fairfield Recorder where
the Williford family celebrated Mr. Edd Will-
liford ’s 89th birthday. A fine man. He was
principal of the first school I attended. At
that time he was 28 years old; and I thought
he was an old man.
From Rotary Flywheel: "Claude Castle-
berry is planning great things for his Eagle
Cafe....His large announcement in Riley’s pa-
per says that he will serve ’the best food that
money can buy5f. We believe that Rotarian Clauc
knows more about food than any other man in Den-
ton, and predict much success for his new ven-
ture ....A rather broad statement; but it is
probably true. Cuaude studies the food market
like a s-tock-broker studies the stock-market.
-■ v?n? the- unfortunate things about a quasi-
political job, is that th-e; college cannot pay
such a man what he is worth.....I would not
doubt that Claude’s knowledge of food and how
to buy it has saved T3CW $1,000.00 per month
for the last ten or ..fifteen years.
GEORGE W.Piatt-will marry Verda Mae Clark.
-Jo Ann Graham Clark (my right hand) says Verda
Mae is an unusually fine girl.
, OUT OF her busy life Jo Ann took time out
to help me run the Finance Co., while Wayne and
Dot went to. visit the Swicks in Columbus, Ohio.
.Mickey, s father is an insurance executive in
Columbus......Joyce Ogilvy was very helpful
also while the Swicks were away.
NOW THE GOVERNMENT is in the automobile bus
iness..... .for when all commitments have been met
Kaiser-Frazer will owe Uncle Sam $190,000,000.00
I wonder if our two Senators and Sam Rayburn
subscribe to that kind of thing......In our gov-
ernment we already have Socialism; and I very
^C?ufear biiat *ts Present momentum will carry
it through to outright Communism....If I am wron;
• so an(? tell me why I am wrong’ I take
it.that no one,in the government or out, expects
tp;.see that $190,000,000.00 paid... .There is no
?HrP??babl^ty °f that bein§ Paid than there
is of the national debt being reduced under our
ruman socialist regime......There was a time
when Truman was a Democrat; but when he saw that
he had to turn socialist in order to remain in
power, he did what such men have done down the
centuries. He flopped oyer to remain in power.
