Eva Nell Henderson was hon-
ored, Tuesday, November 25th,
with a birthday party at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Elvie
Henderson.
Birthday cake and cocoa were
served the following guests:
Nancy Cogdell, Shirley Ann Gar-
rison, Phillis Ann Maxfield,
Margaret Nell Slaughter, Cyn-
thia Keith, Wanda Lou Shinn,
Patsy Pryor, Earline Beck.
Many nice gifts were, receiv-
ed by the honoree.
Various games furnished di-
version during the afternoon.
Mothers attending were Mrs.
Beck, Mrs. Cogdell and Mrs.
Slaughter.
4-H Club Met
At Alamo School
Monday, Dec. /
From Vallejo, California,
comes word of the marriage of
Mr. W. C. Latimer, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Latimer, to
Miss Penney Whisenhunt,
daughter of Mrs. Nancy Whisen-
hunt, of Glenwood, Arkansas.
The ceremony was performed,
Saturday afternoon, October 25
in Reno, Nevada, with Rev.
Thompson, of the First Baptist
Church in that city, officiant.
v Following the return of the
couple to Vallejo, Calif., a re-
ception was held in their honor
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Whisenhunt.
Decorations at the reception
featured a brides cake with
white roses as a floral accent.
A buffet supper was served a
number of guests.
Mr. Latimer is now employ-
ed by the Standard Oil Com-
pany. He is well known here,
having resided in Paducah most
all his life.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gage of
Dumont, celebrated Thanksgiv-
ing by inviting twenty-four
guests for dinner.
Present for the delightful oc-
casion were Mr. and Mrs. Ro-
bert Gage and family, Lamesa;
Mr. and Mrs. Red Johnson and
family, Dickens; Mr. and Mrs.
Theron Bohner and son, Lub-
bock; Mr. Nelson Forrest, Moun-
tain View, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs.
Billy Hand and daughter, Mrs.
Bertha Johnson, Mr. and Mrs.
Hoyt Johnson and Mr. and Mrs.
Gage, Dumont.
Mildred Cogdell was hostess
to the Junior Sorosis Club Mon-
day evening, Dec. 1st. at her
home. Miss Beulah Patton pre-
sided at the business session,
and Osa Mae Holloman was
leader of the program on
Health. Members present an-
swered roll call with a health
hint.
Mozelle Killingsworth discuss-
ed the Unfolding Miracles of
Blood; Warren Foster read a
paper on the Importance of
Sleep, and Clarice Walker talk-
ed on the importance of medical
science in recent years.
Refreshments of pie and cof-
fee were served. The following
members were present: Ara Vee
Robinson, Ann Williams, Ann
Sandefur, Ilene Robertson, Lor-
ena Prunty, Inez Kelley, Vera
Cribbs, Mozelle Killingsworth,
Bettie Killingsworth, Beulah

School December 1, with Presi-
dent, Mary Lou Brascom, pre-
siding.

sion, work proceeded on the
head scarfs, which is the pro-

Bazaar, Saturday
All is in readiness for the Ap-
ron Bazaar to be held Saturday,
December 6, at Holder’s Rural
Utility Service.
The Builder’s Class of the
First Methodist Church are spon-
sors of the bazaar. Sale will
start at 10:30.
The Salt Creek Home Demon-
stration Club met last week in
the home of Mrs. Bob Sunday
for its regular meeting.
Following the business ses-
sion, Mrs. Russell gave a dem-
onstration on making candy
and marshmellows.
Plans were made for the
Christmas party to be held in
the home of Mrs. Nath Gilberth.
Present at the session were
Mesdames R. L. Russell, Joe
Richards, Bailey Isbell, Erbie
Russell, Nath Gilberth, Aubrey
Russel] and the hostess, Mrs.
Bob Sunday.

UNDERGOES OPERATION
Clovis Thompson, who has
been receiving treatment in the
Lisbon Veterans Hospital, Dal-
las, underwent a spinal opera-
tion Wednesday and is reported
to be doing nicely.
Clovis was' on the operating
table, 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Mr. and Mrs. John Chenault
announce the birth of a 9 lb.
son, Stephen Frank, on Satur-
day morning, November 29, at
the Richards Memorial Hospital.
Mother and son are getting
along nicely and “John” is
about back to earth again.
Rev. and Mrs. I. E. Biggs vis-
ited in Stanton, with their son
and family, and in Snyder with
Rev. Biggs’ parents during the
Thanksgiving holidays.
The Valley View Home Dem-
onstration Club met Tuesday
November 25, in the home of
Mrs. Brice Glass. The following
Thanksgiving program was ren-
dered: Devotional, Mrs. Wall;
Reading, “Sharing Thanksgiv-
ing”, Mrs. Beavers; “The First
Thanksgiving”, Mrs. Tye; Read-
ing “De Thanksgivin’ Blessing”,
Mrs. Glass; “Thanksgiving, Old
and New”, Mrs. Robertson.
Members present for the oc-
casion were Mesdms. G. N. Ro-
bertson, Jack Beavers, H. S. Wil-
son, Joe Tye, Connie Parks,
Clyde Floyd, Marvin Wall, W. Q.
Bailey, Jack Stinson and the
hostess, Mrs. Glass.

THOMAS PASSED AWAY
The next meeting of The
Dragon Mothers’ Club will be
held Tuesday, December 9, at
5:30, in the Dragon Lounge.
All members are urged to be
present because it is a very im-
portant meeting, and some
mothers are failing to attend
called meetings.
Alfred Thomas, of Webb City,
Oklahoma, brother of Earl Tho-
mas, of this city, passed away
in the Veteran’s Hospital at
Favettville, Arkansas, Novem-
ber 19.
Mr. Thomas was a Veteran of
World War I.
Mr. Herschel Snider and Miss
Pauline Wilkinson, Cee Vee tea-
chers, attended the State Teach-
ers’ Convention which met in
San Antonio, November 27 and
