T. A. ARNOLD BACK
Arnold, a resident of Denton
most of the time for the last 30
years, is here again. He was as-
sistant manager for the Burr
Store for some twenty years be-
fore going to Lamesa (as a shoe
salesman). He was there five
years and returned here last fall
to become associated with the
Classman Department Store.
He is a member of First Bap-
tist Church.
RAYMOND ELLIS DIES
Raymond C. Ellis, 69, died Fri-
day in a local hospital.
He was born in La Grange,
Iowa, Aug. 21, 1885, and came to
Denton 41 years ago. He founded
the Ellis Auto Service here, but
had been retired from business
for some time.
Ellis lived at 1621 Egan. He is
survived by his widow, a daugh-
ter, Mrs. M. R. Dane and a son,
Charles (Ike) of Denton.
Beulah Dane is the manager
of Denton Federal Savings and
Loan. Charles W. “Ike” Ellis is
owner of the Ellis Auto Service
on Oak Street.
A pioneer in the automobile
business in Denton — one of the
first — he was associated in later
years with Mac C. Lamar.

When Lamar heard of Ray-
mond’s death he said, “He was
one of the old-timers. Honest as
they come. If Raymond did a job,
it had to be right. If it was not
right you owed him nothing. In
other words what he did was
‘right or nothing’.”
0. P. GRANDEY dies
O. P. Grandey, 59, died Thurs-
day in a local hospital. He had
been ill since January.
Grandey owned and operated
the Shaw Studio, one of the old-
est in Denton, since Nov. 16,
1916.
Grandey was an active mem-
ber of the First Presbyterian
Church, U.S.A. and was a mem-
ber of the Denton Kiwanis Club
for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Mary Francis Grandey; a
sister, Mrs. Neal Wilson of Irv-
ing; six brothers.
LT. WEISS TO BIG SPRING
Lt. and Mrs. Ben W. Weiss
(Elizabeth Hall) will be sta-
tioned at the air base at Big
Spring for six months, beginning
late this month.
