Robinson Sells 2114 Cattle
In Spring Rouild-up
•When it’s round-up time in Texas
And the bloom is on the sage,
How I long to be in Texas
Back riding on the raqge.
Just to smell the bacon frying
Hear it sizzling in the pan.
Hear the breakfast horn in the early
morn, drinking coffee from a tan."
The past few days have been
busy ones on the Bean Robinson
ranches in this county. Hundreds
of his beautiful cattle, bearing the
well known pitchfork brand, have
been rounded up and sold. On
Tuesday T. R. Evans and son of
Lebo, Kansas, bought 914 head of
cattle from Mr. Robinson. These
cattle weighed 773290 pounds.
The cattle were driven to Gordon.
Texas and shipped to Kansas
ranges where they will grate dur-
ing the summer. They will be fed
in the fall and re-aold by tba (rat
of tha year.
Mr. Evans baa baen buying cattle
in Texas for 40 years. Ha slated
Tuesday thatt his bunch of two*
year-olds was the finest he bad
ever bought in the atate. He com-
plimented Mr. Robinson highly on
the excellent cere he took of hia
herds. The cattle were white face
Hereford*, glossy and fat. They
had bebn well fed all winter. They
were e beautiful eight to see when
herded on the prairie by fifteen
cowboys outfitted in typical cow-
boy style, big hats, boots, spurs,
bandanas and chaps. The scene
was a thrilling one and made one
realite just what I big part the cat-
tle industry has played, and will
continue to play, iir the great Mate
of Texas Picturesque Shut-In
Mountain looming blue in the din
tance made
for the scene, and hundreds of
beautiful Texas wild flowers were
crushed flat beneath the hard hoofs
of the cattle as they were driven to
the corrals by the Cowboys to be
weighed.
The Bean Robinson round-up is
the largest one in the county. This
year 18 cowboys assisted, including
Mr. Robinson. They camped on
the Dalton Ranch with a chuck
wagon. The spring round-up usual
ly lasts from the middle of April
well into May. Mr. Robinson has
28000 acres leased in the county.
Last week 908 steer* weighing
800.000 pouhds were told to F. M.
Lowden of Allen, Kansas, as well
As 300 heifer yearlings weighing
170.000 pounds. This makes
total of 2)14 cattle sold by Mr.
Robinson this spring.
Cowboys assisting ip the spring
round up Tuesday included; Char-
lie Peach and hia two tons, Fentress
and J. R, and a brother, Mace
Peich, Bill Riebe, Lloyd McCarson,
Bill Moore. Cleve Foreman, Winni-
fred Couger, George Deftdy, Jim
Bob McNeil, Lionel Crooms, and
Mr. Robinson. Mr*. Felix Snoddy,
who is a splendid rider, helped
with the herds Tuesday as well as
C. L. McCarson.
Guests enjoyed a chuck wagon
dinner under the oak trees on the
McCarson place and Walter Wojcik
was cook. Tha food was delicious.
There were hot biscuits as light as
a feather cooked in the big Dutch
ovens, brown, tender steak, beans,
son-of-a-gun, gravy, black coffee
and pineapple pudding. Over 40

tality.
