Bridal Shower Friday Afternoon
Mrs. Kenneth Doshier, who
was Miss Frances Jones before
her marriage on Dec. 22, was
honored Friday with a bridal
shower in the home of Mrs.
Herbert Henry of 1406 Bray.
In the receiving line with the
honoree were her mother, Mrs.
W. O. Jones Jr., the bride-
groom’s mother, Mrs. Deane
Dodge of Childress, and Mrs.
Henry. The bride’s orchid cor-
sage was a gift of Mrs. Pat
Seigler of Childress.
Guests calling between 3 and
5 p.m. were registered in the
bride’s book by Mrs. Doyle Par-
nell. Mrs. Jim Barnhart of Or-
lando, Fla., former classmate of
the bride, poured coffee from a
table covered with a pink net
cloth laid with silver and crys-
tal and centered with a silver
bowl containing pink roses.

January 2 Meeting
The Sorosis Club met at the
home of Mrs. Arrie Bohner
Thursday, Jan. 2, for their busi-
ness meeting and the election
of officers for the new year.
Mrs. V. H. Worley presided in
the absence of Mrs. Hardin
Frazier.
After the business, the group
read the Club Collect in unison.
Mrs. Grover Wilson gave a talk
on “Literacy — Learning Oppor-
tunities for all.” Mrs. B. L.
Mayo spoke on “Developing an
Intellectual Curiosity.” and
Mrs. Jessie Thomas gave an
up-to-the minute report on edu-
cational projects.

Mrs. Payne had lived in the
Lindsay area for the past two

hicah. She was born in White-
wright, Texas, Aug. 31, 1893.
Services were held Dec. 28 at
Lindsay.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Ruth Keith of Waco; two
sons, Roland Claybrook, Lind-
say, Okla., and James Payne,
McCamey, Texas; three sisters.
Mrs. Irvin Cameron, Waco, Mrs
L. C. Denny, Iowa Park, and
Mrs. Inez Garrett of Vernon-

Memphis, and two granddaugh-
ters.
Jay Woodley Feted
On Third Birthday
Jay Edward Woodley was en-
tertained with a party Jan. 6 in
the home of his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. George Alton Wood-
’ey. Jay was three years old.

which were served along with
Coke to Brad and Jerry John-
son, Rusty Jones, Jay Powell,

White has just been received
here. News of his funeral will

Rites For Dumont
Native Held Wed.
Robert William White, 51, a
native of Dumont, died at Rich-
ards Memorial Hospital Jan. 7.
Services were held Wednes-
’ay afternoon at 2 p.m. at the
umont Baptist Church with the
Rev. Richard Bolt, Paducah, of-
iciating. Burial was in Du-
nont Cemetery under the di-
rection of Norris Funeral Home

Born at Dumont on May 28,
1912, he was a Civil Service em-
ployee at Wrangel, Alaska.
Survivors include his wife,
Mary Emma of Wrangle, Alas-
ka; three sons, Jimmy of Du-
mont, Capt. Paul White, El
Paso, and Rodger of Wrangel;
two daughters, Mrs. Naydeen
Watson of Whiteman AFB,
Missouri, and Mrs. Theritha
Hughes of Wrangel; his moth-
er, Mrs. Ella M. White of Du-
mont; one brother, Roy of Abi-
lene; and seven grandchildren.
VISITING IN PENNSYLVANIA

Louise, are spending the holi-
days with friends and relatives
