Jennings recovering from surgery
PHOENIX (AP) — Country
music star Waylon Jennings was
recovering Tuesday from surgery to
ease leg pain, a spokeswoman said.
Jennings, 62, underwent suigery
Monday to ease the pain from
peripheral vascular disease in both
legs. He’s expected to fully recover.
Peripheral vascular disease is a
condition in which the arteries that
carry blood to the arms or legs
become narrowed or clogged, slow-
ing or stopping the flow of blood.
“He came through it fine,”
spokeswoman Schatzi Hageman
said Tuesday. She did not name
the hospital.
Black sings R&B
parody for film
LOS ANGELES — Tenacious
D fans will be shocked to hear lead
singer Jack Black sing “Let’s Get It
On” at the end of “High Fidelity,”
but it was Black himself who
chose the song.
Black is known more for his
heavy metal parodies than the
PEOPLE
sweet rendition of the Marvin Gaye
standard that closes the movie star-
ring John Cusack.
“I pushed for the song that they
ended up using just cause I
thought I could sing it well. They
were talking about me doing
another Marvin Gaye song that I
didn’t think rocked as hard. I
wanted to really get a good clop in
the chops at the end of the movie,”
Black told The Associated Press in
a recent interview.

Earth Day on wheels
LOS ANGELES — Lee lacocca,
the brains behind the Ford Mus-
tang and the minivan, will spend
Earth Day on Saturday on two
wheels.
Iacocca’s EV Global Motors Co.
styled an electric bicycle — the E-
Bike — like a mountain bike. It
can reach 20 mph and travel up to
20 miles on a single charge from a
regular household outlet. Prices
start at $995.
“Not only am I going to be out
riding an electric bike every-
where, but I’m encouraging my
friends and family to do the
same,” lacocca said of his Earth
Day plans. “Consumers are taking
a real interest in clean energy and
alternative-fuel vehicles.”
