Obituaries
John M. Mitchell
John M. Mitchell was bom,
May 8,1911, to the union of the
late John Mitchell and Passie
Conner, in Grimes County,
Texas. He was the oldest of six
children. He was reared in
Grimes County and attended
public school in Richard. At an
early age he confessed hope in
Christ. He was married to Clara
Johnson, who preceded him in
death. To this union no children
were bom.
He later moved to Houston,
where he met and married
Bumice McQueen, who had
one daughter. They married
February 26, 1945, and moved
to Barrett Station. They were
married for 48 years and she
preceded him in death.
He was a resident of Barrett
Station for 55 years until his
death Wednesday, December 6,
2000, in a Houston hospital.
He retired from N.M.
Christenson and sons. He and
his wife were founders of First
Missionary Baptist Church,
were they remained members
until death.
He leaves to mourn his pass-
ing, one step-daughter, Mary
Martin and husband Richard
Martin of Crosby; three broth-
ers, Sam Mitchell and wife
Buelah Mitchell of Houston;
T.C. Mitchell and wife Jocelia
Mitchell of Houston; Burline
Mitchell and wife Ola Mitchell
of Anchorage, Alaska; two sis-
ters, Ocie Dorsey and Addie
Bell Joseph, both of Houston;
two grandchildren, Gwendolyn
Freeman and Ardis Session Jr.,
five great-grandchildren, four
nephews and four nieces, other
relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6
p.m. with a wake from 6 to 8
p.m. today, December 8,2000,
at Walker Funeral Home
Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 10
a.m. Saturday, December 9,
2000, at First Missionary
Baptist Church, 11910 Locust
St., Barrett Station, Crosby,
with the Pastor Tommy
Johnson officiating. Interment
will follow at Sterling White
Cemetery, Highlands.
Pallbearers are John Earl
Alfred, Larry Bass, Lawrence
Freeman, Jessie Moore and
Jimmy Hall. ,
Honorary pallbearers are

Chisholm Bogie
Margie “Sue” Chisholm
Bogie, 61, went to be with the
Lord on Wednesday, December
6,2000.
She was bom March 11,
1939, in Columbia, La., to Alton
and Ella Mae Chisholm. She
was married to A.G. Bogie
December 26,1955. She retired
in 1995, from GCCISD as a bus
driver after 16 years of service.
She was a resident of Baytown
for 20 years and the last 20 years
in Highlands.
She was preceded in death by
her father, Alton N. Chisholm,
two brothers-in-law, Archie
Neathery and Bill Reed and a
great-granddaughter, Kylia
Lynn Bogie.
She is survived by her mother,
Ella Mae Chisholm of
Highlands; husband, A.G. Bogie
of Baytown; four sons and three
daughters-in-law, Marvin Bogie
of Highlands; Mike and Terri
Bogie, Edward and Pam Bogie,
Richard and Trade Bogie all of
Highlands; two daughters and
one son-in-law, Chantay Bogie
of Highlands; Susie and Curtis
Baker of Highlands; two broth-
ers and sisters-in-law, Robert
and Lou Chisholm of
Highlands; J.W. and Louise
Chisholm of Kingville; three
sisters,. Nancy Hall, Barbara
Neathery both of Highlands;
Silvia Duncan of San
Augustine; 17 grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren,
numerous nieces, nephews and
other relatives and a host of
friends.
The family received friends
from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday,
December 7,2000, at Earthman
Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10
a.m. today, December 8, 2000,
at Earthman Funeral Chapel,
3919 Garth Road, with the Rev.
Danny Biddy officiating.
Interment will be at Earthman
Memory Gardens Cemetery,
8624 Garth Road.

Dennis Ray Bell, 54, of
Baytown, passed away, Tuesday,
November 28,2000.
He was bom November 17,
1946. He was a dump truck dri-
ver for Charles LaMarr
Trucking.
He is survived by his ex-wife,
Carolyn Cure, son, Randy Ray
Bell and wife Mandy Bell, step-
sister, Lee Ann Brown Heck and
two grandchildren.

4 p.m. Saturday, December 9,

He was bom July 29,1913, in
Barnett, Miss. He was a resident
of Baytown since 1964. He was
a U,S. Army veteran. He spent

ities and land development busi-
ness, having been involved in
the development of early
Houston subdivisions such as
Sharpstown. Myerland,
Westbury and Atascocita.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Mary Merrill.
He is survived by his sons and
daughters-in-law, Charles R.
and Deloris Merrill of Deer
Park; Pete and Ramona Merrill
of Crosby; sisters, Mamie Petty
of Pompano Beach, Fla.; Alma
Kate Noto of Jackson, Miss.;
Eugenia Merritt of Pensacola,
Fla.; brother, William E. Merrill
of N. Richland Hills; grandchil-
dren, Kenneth, Jennifer and
Amanda Merrill and special

Angeline Marie Putman, 70,
passed away, Wednesday,
December 6, 2000, a) her resi-
dence.
She resided in the
Crosby/Higlilands area all her
life, was a member of First
Baptist Church of Highlands.
Flower gardening and pets were
her favorite pastime. She was a
wonderful, loving rpother.
She was preceded in death by
her husband of 32 years, Charlie
Putman, parents, Stash and
Sophie Walkoviak, two brothers,
Buddy and Butch Walkoviak.
Surviving relatives are daugh-
ter, Kouida Putman of
Highlands; son and daughter-in-
law, Andy and Pat Putman of
Highlands; sister and brother-in-
law, Frances and Martin Jannise
of Highlands; numerous nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
Family will receive friends
from 6 to 8 p.m. today,
December 8,2000, at Earthman
Funeral Home.

17, 1959, to the "Late Garfield
Norris Sr. and Ivory P. Phillips
Bundage in Houston at
Hermann Hospital.
She confessed Christ at an
early age 'and joined True Vine
Missionary Baptist Church
under the leadership of the
Late W.L. Humphrey.
Ronda was educated through
the Crosby Independent
School District. She later
attended Lee College, San
Jacinto College and then Texas
Southern University where she
was also employed for approx-
imately eight years. Ronda
became a member of the
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority
Inc. on the campus'" of Texas
Southern University. While
employed at Texas Southern
she met and married Mr.
Donald O. Christopher on July
22, 1995, and the two of them
resided in Barrett* Station,
Crosby, as their home.
The two joined Willing
Workers Missionary Baptist
Church in Houston, under the
leadership of Pastor James C.
Carrington, Sr., xyhere she
served faithfully in multiple
ministries until her death. She
was also employed as the
chufch secretary. She was ‘
employed until her death as the,
secretary of Searching Out
Souls Ministries of Carrington
Enterprises.
She was preceded in death
by her grandparents, the late
Richmond Phillips, Sr. and the i
late Viney Gorrell Phillips, her
adopted father, the late Rev.
John C. Bundage, Jr.
She leaves to mourn her .
passing her long and devoted
husband, Donald 0.
Christopher of Crosby; and
three step-daughters, Dawn,
Tamika and Kendra
Christopher all of Houston;
grandson, Marcus Allen
