Police receive 143
calls for service
A market in the 2800 block of
North Main Street was burglar-
ized between 11 p.m. Wednesday
and 6 a.m. Thursday. Missing are
cartons of cigarettes and tele-
phone calling cards worth hbout
$650. The burglar or burglars
caused about $700 damage when
entry was made through a roof
vent.
A residence in the'300 block of
West Republic Avenue was bur-
glarized between 9 a.m. and 1:30
p.m. Thursday.* Entry to the house
was made through a rear bedroom
window. Missing are two televi-
sions and a 9mm handgun.
An apartment in the 1200 block
of Northwood Drive was burglar-
ized between 4 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Thursday. A television worth
about $150 was taken! There were
no indications of forced entry,
police reported.
Two houses, one in the 3200
block and another in the 3300
block of Michigan Street, were
burglarized between 5:30 and
7:30 p.m. Thursday. A Nintendo
game system and a Phillips stereo
system were taken from the home
in the 3200 block, which had an
unlocked read door. A television
and compact disc player were
taken from the home in the 3300
block, which had a window bro-
ken.
Burglars strike
several vehicles
A red 1991 Ford pickup truck
was burglarized between 11 p.m.
Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday
in the 3400 block of Garth Road.
Tools and a tool belt worth about
$260 were stolen. The thief broke
the rear sliding glass window of
the truck to get into the vehicle.
A $4,000 gas detection machine
and other tools were stolen out of
the back of a pickup truck parked
at a motel in the 300 block of
North Alexander Drive.
Also missing are two large tool
boxes. The items were taken
between midnight and 6 a.m.
Thursday.
Two vehicles were burglarized
POLICE BEAT
between 1 and 9 a.m. Thursday in
the 3300 block of Minnesota
Street. Entry was made by break-
ing a window. Missing are a Sony
C760 compact disc player and
speakers. The suspect in the case
is a Hispanic male between the
ages of 16 and 18 years old, 130
to 160 pounds and standing about
5 feet, 7 inches tall.
An estimated $400 in clothing
was stolen out of a vehicle parked
at San Jacinto Mall. Police believe
the door to the vehicle may have
been left unlocked. The theft
occurred between 6 and 9 p.m.

, A 17-year-old shoplifter ran out

The thefts occurred between
10:30 and 11:45 a.m. Thursday.
Tarps stolen off
flatbed trailers
Two tarps for covering the
cargo of flatbed trailers were
stolen off a truck left unattended
in the 1900 block of Interstate 10
at about noon Thursday.
The tarps are described as red
and blue with yellow flaps. Value
of each tarp is about $800.
In the 24 hours ending at about 6
a.m. Friday, Baytown police
received 143'calls for service,
including eight alarms, one assault
two auto thefts, 15 burglaries, three
reports of criminal mischief, eight
disturbances, three reports of shots
fired, 13 thefts and eight non-injury
vehicle accidents.
