Humphrey Bills
Are Just As Good
CLEVELAND. O. (UP) — For
years, Earl Swaggerty, 37-year-old
illing station proprietor has tested
bis paper money on a machine
which picks out counterfeits when
heir serial numbers fail to syn-
chronize.
Recently, Swaggerty was show-
ing off tlu> machine. He dialed in
serial numbers and to his horror
j found half the money in his cash
register to be phony—or so it ap-
peared.
Robert F. Holmes, la ch:^gc of
tlie Secret Serv ice here, aumed
Swaggerty's fears when he told
him “There’s a new series of dollar
bills with Secretary of the Treas-
ury George M. Humphrey signa-
ture that won t work on tlie detec-
tors."
But, Holmes added, "I hope
everybody understands that the
Humphrey dollars are just us good
as the old ones."

CAMDEN, N. J. (U.R)—Costly
