coronary infraction.

Georgia, Mrs. Anderson w/is a
long-time educator and civic
leader both in Texas and in
Georgia. She was a graduate of
Texas Women's University,
valedictorian of her class, and
received the M.A. degree in
English from Columbia Univer-
sity of New York City. Mrs.
Anderson began her teaching
career at Peacock Military
Academy in Dallas, later
teaching at East Mountain High
School, near Gilmer. In
Savannah, Mrs. Anderson
taught English and foreign
language on the high school
level, and for the past ten years
had been -Director of the
Program for the Visually
Impaired. Mrs. Anderson was
twice named “Teacher of the
Year” in the Chatham County
Public Schools, and for several
years was president of the
Chatham Education Associaion,
the local teachers’ organization.
In conjunction with her work
for the visually impaired, Mrs.
Anderson was an editor for the
American Printing House for

Congressman Wright Pat-
man has announced ihat the
U.S. Office of Education has
approved funds in the amount
of $35,000 to seven East Tgxas
Colleges in accordance with the
College Library Resources
Program. The following schools
will receive $5,000 each to help
purchase books artd other
library materials: Lon Morris
College in Jacksonville; Texar-
kana College; Paris Junior
College; Panola Junior College
in Carthage; Jacksonville
College; Jarvis Christian
College in Hawkins; and
Henderson County Junior
College in Athens.
Overall, the State of Texas
ranked third among the 50
states in funds received, with a
total of $494,925 for improve-
ment of college libraries. This is
truly significant since the
library at any educational
institution ia the gateway by
which students can associate
with the greatest minds of all
ages and from all parts of the
world.
