Parade of Homes Thursday
This year’s Parade of
Homes sponsored by the
Clarksville Young Homemakers
will be held Thursday night,
December 13, from 7 till 9:30
p.m. The event is being held in
the evening since much of the
emphasis is on Christmas
decorations.
Included in the parade will
be the homes of Mr. and Mrs. E.
F. Murphy at 500 West Fourth
St. in Clarksville, the Maurice
Ijove home on Highway 37 and

Linda Estates.

Hines Home
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
G. A. Hines is a spacious,
two-story home .jvith formal
living room, den and kitchen,
one bedroom and bath on the
first level and three bedrooms
and two baths on the uper level.
Love Home
The Arkansas rural home
of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Love is
constructed of rough cedar
outside and finished cedar
inside. The decor of the home
was created and designed by
Mrs. Love and her daughters.
The kitchen and dining area
adjoin a sunken den, three bed-
rooms and a balcony bedroom
and three baths. The rustic look
is coutinuous throughout the
house with exposed beams in all
rooms. Glass sections in each
room give every one a view
over a private lake and
surrounding countryside.
Christmas decorations through-
out this home are all handmade.
Tickets will be on sale at
each home for $1.00 each and
homes may be toured in any-
ordef desifed.
Brooks Hospital Donation $5,000

Parking Meters
Considered
A request from Ernest
Winner Jr., chairman of the
Merchants Committee of the
Chamber of Commerce con-
cerning removal, of parking
meters in J,he downtown area
was considered. In addition K>
advising legal requirements of
reaving the meters, the
coimcii agreed to allow free
parking for a one-month trial
period. The merchants will be
allowed to select .the trial
month.

was made last week by Guy
Patterson. Brooks rise presi-
dent and Director of Manufac-
turing. and Mrs. Delene Tabb.

earlier pledged $2,370.00 to the
building fund and Patterson
said that these pledges would
be matched as they are fulfilled

Foundation, bringing the total
company gift to $7,370.00 and
the combined company em-
ployee pledges to almost
$10,000.00.
Brooks was the first
industry to locate in Clarksville
through efforts of the Indus-
trial Foundation. Their first
plant was opened on East Main
street in 1953 and they
occupied the first building in
Industrial Park on January 1,
1964. Patterson said the firm
felt a close association with
Clarksville and Red River
County and wanted to have a
part in construction of the new
hospital.
Two Named to
Solid Waste
Authority
The Commissioners Court,
upon :>lion of County Judge
Gavin Watson Jr., has named

Varley, CSTE coordinator, as
the county's representatives on
the '->oard of the Northeast
. Texas Solid Waste Manage
ment Authority.
The three-county organ

authority.

McCluer of Bogata to the Red
River County Library.Board to
complete the unexpired term of
her husband, who served on the
board until his death recently.

McCluer is highly qualified to
fill the position and that the
board is fortunate to have her
as a member.

Christmas
Program
The annual Clarksville
High School Choral Club
Christmas program will be held
Tuesday. December 14. at 8
p.m. in the High School
auditorium.
The high school and junior
high school bands will join the
choir in presenting the
program. No admission will be
charged and everyone is invited
to attend.
COUNTY JOINS ENERGY
CONSERVATION MOVE
The County Commission
ers Court has ordered court
house hall lighting reduced by
half and has called on all
courthouse offices to eliminate
unnecessary lighting, in com
pita nee with the President's
request to conserve energy.
The court also voted to
discontinue Christmas lighting
on the courthouse tower during
the Holiday season.
Hospital Recieves
.$25,000 Gift
A $25,000 gift for the Red River County Hospital
building fund has been received from the Hoblitzelle
Foundation in Dallas. A formal presentation for assistance
was made in September and was approved at a meeting of
the foundation's board of directors on November 16.
In approving the grant, James Aston, board chairman,
said the foundation would like to have part in providing the
new hospital and mentioned a personal interest in the area
because of close friends living in Clarksville.
Van Holloman, coordinator for the Hoblitxelle
Foundation, said the foundation had $650,000 available for
grants this year but that requests totaled over $3.5 million.
