Ford Memorial Chapel was
the scene of the 8 p.m. wedding
Saturday of Miss Mary Alice
Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert F. Jones, and Donald
Wayne Oatman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. G. W. Oatman.
The Rev. J. T. Bolding per-
formed a double ring ceremony
before a sunburst arrangement
of white gladioli and emerald
palms flanked with seven-
branch candelabra.
Miss Evelyn McCarty, organ-
ist, played traditional wedding
music and accompanied Mrs.
Kent Shannon who sang “Ah,
Sweet Mystery of Life.”
Given in marriage by her
father, the former Miss Jones
wore an original gown of im-
ported French Alencon lace ap-
pliqued over tulle. The neck-
line of illusion net was com-
plimented with a Queen Victoria
collar. Her bouffant skirt fea-
tured a cascading flounce. The

of fluted net banded with seed
pearls. She carried a cascade
of feathered white carnations
centered with a white cattleya
orchid.

tended as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Miss Ann Me-
Dougal of Burnett, the bride’s
niece, and Miss Georgene Oat-
man, sister of the bridegroom.
The attendants wore princess
style dresses of tile blue crys-
talette with deeper ciel blue
cummerbunds extending to back
panels over the bouffant skirts.
The scooped necklines extended
into deep V backs. They carried
cascades of white cushion mums
and nylon tulle, and wore head-
pieces of matching flowers.
Garland D. Oatman of Mes-
quite served his brother as best
man. Ushers were Ben J. Ren-
shaw of Irving, cousin of the
bridegroom, and Dave Burger of
Fort Worth.
A centerpiece of silvered in-
terlocking wedding rings, white
flowers, and blue lace carna-
tions flanked the table at a
reception in the church parlor.
Members of the house party
were Mrs. C. A. McDougal, Mrs.
Raymond L. Jones, Mrs. Garland
D. Oatman, Mrs. Kim Loveless,
Miss Carolyn Abbott and Miss
Carla Carter.
For traveling to Ruidoso, N.
M. , Mrs, Oatman chose a gray
sheath dress with matching
jacket and black accessories.
She wore a white orchid- cor-
sage. The couple will be at
home at 4812-B Belton St., Lub-
bock.
The bride will graduate from
Texas Tech this month.. She
will be employed as a first grade
teacher at C. N. Hodges School
next year.
A senior retailing major at
Texas Tech, the bridegroom is
a former resident of Paducah
and grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
G. N. Robertson and Mr§. G. W.
Oatman Sr.
Attending the wedding from
Paducah were Mr. and Mrs. G.

united in marriagee Aug. 16,
7:30 p.m. in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. R. A. Curtis, 1508 Straf-
ford Dr., Fort Worth, with Rev.
Walter Gummlet, Baptist min-
ister, officiating.
The bride wore a ballerina
length gown of white lace over
taffeta, designed with a V-
shaped necklihe and cap sleeves.
Her veil of illusion was finger
tip length. Her only jewelry
was pearl earrings, a gift of her
grandmother. She carried a
bouquet of pink and, white car-
nations atop a white Bible; The
traditional something old, bor-
rowed and blue with a penny
in her shoe was carried out by
the bride.
Attending the couple were
Miss Carolyn Boyd, Fort Worth,
and Arthur Lee Dunaway, Hous-
ton.
A reception was held im-
mediately following the cere-
mony with Miss Wanda Thorn-
ton, Paducah, presiding at the
refreshment table.
Mr. arid Mrs. Clark will re-
side in Fort Worth where he is
employed at Convair.

ducah were Mrs. Duff Davis,

And Study Held
The Christian Women’s Fel-
lowship of the First Christian
Church met for a luncheon and
study Wednesday, August 14, at
the church with Mrs. W. S.
Heatly and Mrs. Bernie Davis
hostesses.
Study leader was Mrs. Al-
bert Axe who presented Mrs.
Dave Richards and Mrs. G. F.
Givens in a discussion of “Christ,
the Church and Race.” “The
Brotherhood of Toil” was given
by Mrs. E. A. Wilbur, worship
leader.

Organ Offered
At Midwestern
The Department of Sacred
Music, Midwestern University,
Wichita Falls, has announced a
series of organ scholarships
available to young men and
women interested in becoming
Ministers of Music, with a col-
lege degree in Sacred Music.
Dr. Nita Akin is chairman of
the Sacred Music Department
which is a rapidly expanding
phase of the school’s fine arts
program.
New courses to be offered in
the school’s curriculum this fall
will include,, in addition to ap-
plied organ and voice subjects,
hymnology, choir organization
and administration, organ lit-
erature, an oiatorio workshop, or
gan methods, liturgical mus'
and liturgical services.
’The degree, a Bachelor
Sacred Music, is a regular four
year course of study at the
Wichita _ Falls University, and
includes thorough preparation
in theory and composition, his-
tory of music, vocal literature,
and instrumental and keyboard
music.
