The Texas Air Control
Board has in effect a permit
program for confined livestock
and poultry feeding operation*,
says an agricultural engineer
for the Texas Agricultural
Extension .Service. The pro-
gram, set up under an
amendment to the Texas Clean.
Air Act of 1967, considers the
proper handling of manure and
runoff to minimize odors and
dust. Permits are required for
both the construction and
operation of a feedlot and for
the construction snd operation
of a feed mill in conjunction with
feeding facilities.
IN THE KITCHEN

Ys cup enriched cornmeal
Vd cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
'/> tsp. dry mustard
1 tap. miniced onion
' 1 egg, beaten
2 tbsps. vegetable oil
'A cup milk
1 pound pkg. wieners
Combine cornmeal, flour,
salt, garlic powder, mustard
and onion. Add egg, oil and
milk. Coat each weiner with
flour and insert into tines of.
cooking fork or wooden skewer.
Dip into cornmeal mixture,
coating all sides. Fry s few at a
time in hot, deep fat (375
degrees) until golden brown.
Serve hot with chili sauce.
