FIX-IT TIP
Good jimmy-proof lock*
are needed on doors to help
thwart burglars. The ordinary
spring latch that locks doors
when you slam them is not
enough. '
All outside doors should be
equipped with the kind of lock
known as a deadbolt. Instead of
a slanted bolt, it has a square
bolt which must be turned with
a key from the outside and with
a handle on the Inside, n '—-
If an outside door has a
glass panel through which
someone coUld reach the lock
after breaking the glass, a
double barrel lock should be
installed. The double barrel
lock must be opened with a key
on the inside as well as the
outside, iiv j ,

Recovered by
Sheriffs Dept
More than 100 items stolen
in three burglaries in North
Red River County were
recovered Monday by the
Sheriffs Department. The
stolen goods were found in an
Idabel, Oklahoma apartment
house snd returned to Clarks-
ville.
Listed as recovered were
eight guns and ammunition,
typewriter, guitars, television
set, cameras, power saws, tape
casettes, clock radios snd 60
tapes and various other small
items.
A 14-year-old girl and
16-year-old boy were turned
over to Juvenile Officer Pat
Temples. Gharges of intidng a
minor were filed against am
18-year-old male in connection
with the incident and a
20 year-old male is being held
by Oklahoma officials snd will
be charged when brought to
Texas.
Sheriff Mac McGuire was
assisted in the recovery by
Deputies Bobby Yarborough
and J. D. Mitchell. McGuire
estimated the yalue of the
merchandise at more than
51,000.00 and said the goods
were apparently taken in three
different burglaries.
He added that recovery of
the goods and arrests of the
suspects brought to 32 the
number of burglaries cleared in
the last 30 days by his
department.
We wish to express our sin-
cere thanks and appreciation for
the food, beautiful flowers and
many acts of kindness shown
us during the loss of our loved
one. A special thanks to Dr.
Marx, Dr. Edwards and Dr.
Brooks and the Red River
County Hospital staff. Also a
special thanks to those who sat
at the funeral home and Jolley's
Funeral Home. Thanks to Bro.
Hubert Reddus, Bro. Ted White
and Bro. G. L. Vaughan and
the members of the choir. The
family of Tom Bolton.
Dear Friends; A vacation Is
nice, but the nicest part Is
getting home. You really don't
appreciate something until you
lose It or nearly lose it. We
almost lost our home and would
have lost It If It had not been
for the Clarksville Volunteer
Fire Department. Three min-
utes later and our home would
have been gone. As It was, they
quickly extinguished the Are
without any water damage inside
the house. Thank you, Clarks-
ville Fire Department, for our
having a house to come home
to. Sincerely, The Gene Prater
Family.
We wish to express our sin-
cere thanks to our friends and
to all the ministers for their
visits and prayers and for all
the flowers and cards that were
sent to us. Also Dr, Marx and
the entire staff at the hospital
for the wonderful care. We
love all of you. Nat and Hazel
Quarles.
