colon surgery at Medical City in

Mrs. Angie Eudy of Red River
Haven has been very ill at St. Joseph
Hospital where she had a blood clot
removed from her arm. She is doing
better and came back to the home
Thursday.
Mrs. Janette Crabb and husband,
Elbert Dean, trave retired from the
Round Rock school system in Janu-
ary. They will vacation on Lake Fork
this week and are expected to visit
her mother, Mrs. Essie Cole of Bogata
and her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Embrey.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Sulsar have
been ill with the flu.
Mrs. Bessie Mae Sulsar had minor
surgery Wednesday in Paris and is
doing better.
Jim Lee of Houston died suddenly
from a heart attack at his home last
week. He was the son of the late Will
and Nettie Lee of Fulbright and is
survived by a son and brother, Maxie
Lee.
Jackie, the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Ramsey, visited rela-
tives in Bogata, Deport and Fulbright.
She lives in Dallas.
Sharon Aucrberry of Burleson,
niece of Faye Gandy, took leave as of
March 1 until after her baby arrives in
June.
Marcella Wright visited Bety and
Melissa Rodgers this week.
Scott LaRue was a visitor of the
Rodgers Sunday evening.

Dies March 3
Stella Crafton, 85, of Cunning-
ham, died Saturday, March 3 at Baylor
Medical Center, Dallas.
Services were scheduled for 2 p.m.
Monday, March 5 at Life Tabernacle
Church in Cunningham with the Rev.
Don Whitt and the Rev. Tony Corso
officiating. Burial was in Cunning-
ham Cemetery by Grant Funeral
Home.
She was bom September 27,1904
in Roxton.adaughterofJosephRiley
and Cynthia Ellen Turner Crafton.
She was a member of the Life Taber-
nacle Church.
Survivingareason, Wayne Crafton
of Cunningham. She was preceded in
death by two brothers, Charles and
Walter Crafton.
Bearers were Pete McKnight, Gene
Norwood, Ricky Anderson, Buddy
Taylor, Alma Norwood and James
Norwood.
Hubert E. Roach
Dies March 4
Hubert E. Roach, 77, of Paris died
at Paris Nursing Home Sunday,
March 4.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday, March 6 in Fry and Gibbs
Funeral Home Chapel with John
Banister and Charlie Williams, offi-
ciating. Dean Kilmer conducted
graveside rites at Evergreen Ceme-
tery.
Mr. Roach was bom December 29,
1912 in Milton, a son of Thomas A.
Roach and Lillie Gunter Roach. He
was a 1931 graduate of Paris High
School and attended Hardeman Col-
lege in Henderson,TN, graduating in
1933. He also attended Abilene Chris-
tian University where he graduated
in 1935 with cum laude honors,
majoring in Bible and Greek.
He was a fulltime Church of Christ
minister for more than 50 years, serv-
ing congregations in Durant, OK,
Konawa, OK, Oklahoma City and
Hugo, OK. He was minister at the
Lamar Avenue Church of Christ in
Paris for over 22 years and the bonham
Street Church of Christ for 20 yca. s.
He married Mary Helen Cook on
June 1,1936. She died September 1,
1963. He married Eulalia Parchman
on October 10,1964.
Surviving ar ehis wife; two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Gary (Helen) Norman of
Paris and Mrs. Jack (Deanie) Merritt
of Houston; two granddaughters,
Karen and Laurie Norman of Paris; *
and brother and sister-in-law, Albert -
and Terry Roach of Pans.
James R. Lee
Dies February 22
James R. Lee, 70, died Thursday, :
February 22 at his home in Richmond^
Services were held at 11 a.m. Sat-
urday, February 24 at Garmany and
Carden Funeral Home Chapel in
Rosenberg with the Rev. Harold
Sellers officiating. Burial was in
Greenlawn Memorial Park in
Richmond.
Mr. Lee was bom September 14,
1919 in Fulbright, a son of William
A. and Nettie Turner Lee. He married
Iris Bowman on July 22, 1950 in
Carlisle. She preceded him in death
in 1984.
He was a graduate of East Texas
State University and worked for
Exxon Company, U.S.A. for 32 years
before retiring in 1983. He was a
veteran of World War II, having
served with the 88th Infantry Divi-
sion in North Africa and Italy.
He is survived by one son, Ronny
Lee of Richmond and one brother,
Maxie T. Lee of Metairie, LA.
Buell Humphries
Dies March 1
Buell Humphries, 60, of Texas
City, died March 1, Thursday, at his
residence.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Satur-
day at the First Baptist Church in
LaMarque. The Rev. Leon Maxwell,
the Rev. Don Locke and the Rev.
B. T. Skelton officiated. A private
family graveside burial was planned
under the direction of Emken-Linton
Fueral Home.
Bom November 8, 1929, Mr.
Humphries as the former owner of
Humphries' Food Store. He had
served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Bar-
bara Humphries of Texas City; his
mother, Bonnie Humphries of Red
River Haven Nursing Home; a daugh-
ter, Lea Ellen Humphries of
Galveston, a brother, J.D. Humph-
ries of Beaumont; two nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers included James Dcmct-
rios, Larry Bradford, Don Wiggins,
Carl English Sr., Pat Patterson and
Gurney Youngblood.
