The Glade-water Bear* battled
their way Into the scmi-finsl* of
the Longview Cage tourney Fri-
day afternoon with a 4H to 39
triumph over the potent White
Oak Roughneck*.
The Rears, holders of last
year's tourney crown, will tan-
gle with Coach Clay Kennedy's
Kilgore Bulldogs at 1 p.m. Sat-
urday in the junior high gym.
Kilgore trimmed New London,
in the quarterfinals Friday.
The Bulldog* will furnish some
familial—and dangerous opposi-
tion — Saturday. In two previous
meet intis of the teams. Kilgore
took the first game 38 to 33 in
the championship of the Kilgore
tournament, and the Hears won the
second game by almost identical-
ly the same score, 39 to 35. The
Bears' win was a district game.
Neal Williams hooped 29
points lo tska high scoring hon-

Williams chunked in 11 of his

fore he and his mates retired to

reserves took over the play in the
last three minutes.
White Oak, sporting one of the
best season records of any team
in East Texas, has lost only two
games—both to the Hears. The

tween the team's two centers—
Larry Tate and Neal Williams
The Lobos recognise the high
, scoring Tate as one of the best all-
round players in the district and
one of the greatest produced by
Longview High. On the other hand
Gladcwatc-r believes that Williams
| is an equal to Tate any day of the
week And any of the other Bears
—Kennedy, Julian. Lancaster and
the Smitherman .twins—are all
sharp shooters
Tate Is the leading scorer in the
