blonde rams the firing handle
home and the earth trembles un-
der a terrific dynamite blast.
Eight years ago, Virginia Harri-
rnan of West Rurnney tossed her
college books aside and decided to
try her hand at mica mining. Since
then this woman, weighing 120
and standing 5 feet 8 inches, has
labored at the local mica mine.
Miss Harrlmun, now 28, started
by mastering the operation of a
jack hammer and has spent much
time running a compressed air
drill, boring into rock in search of
the precious mica needed by the
electronics industry. She also han-
dles a crane, drives trucks and
grabs a shovel alongside the :nen
when needed.
