Bob Denver, the star of those
marooned on “Gilligan’s Island,”
was arrested Thursday after a pack-
age of marijuana was delivered to
his home near this mountain town.
Denver was charged with marijua-
na possession and released on
$1,000 bond.
“He was very apologetic over the
incident and remorseful,” said
police Lt. Brace McNeill.
Denver, 63, could face up to six
months in jail and a $1,000 fine if
convicted of the misdemeanor.
He starred as the hapless mate to
the rotund Skipper in “Gilligan’s
Island” from 1964 through 1967.

Crosby to chronicle
music’s role in change
LOS ANGELES (AP) — David
Crosby was a long time cornin’

Crosby, the singer-songwriter
who was such a part of the 1960s
social consciousness scene, is help-

and Be Counted,” a documentary
tracing pop music’s role in bringing
about social and political changes

“It occurred to me that no one
had ever chronicled what music
had done socially and politically,”

friends of mine.”
Among those who’ll be inter-
viewed for the film are Pete
Seeger, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez,
Carole King, Bonnie Raitt and
Crosby’s former bandmates,
Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and
Neil Young.
Crosby, who gained fame with
the Byrds and Crosby, Stills and
Nash, conceived “Stand and Be
Counted” as a book while he was
recuperating from a liver trans-
plant in 1994. Crosby is co-writ-
ing the book with David
Bender.
