The equipment
includes 500
40-foot highway trailers for
use in piggyback and
over-the-road service.
In announcing the orders,
MoPac President, J. W.
Gessner, noted that the new
equipment will benefit
shippers of a wide variety of
products in Missouri Pacific’s
12,000-mile, 12-state service
area.
“The addition of 300
piggyback flatcars and 500
new trailers also recognizes
the rapid growth of business
from energy-conscious firms
seeking to save fuel by
diverting shipments from
truck to rail,” Gessner said.
“Our business in that area has
increased by more than 21
percent thus far this year.”

Auto Service Tips
The possibility of gas rationing
becomes more likely as time
goes by. Everyone can help
prolong or avoid that day by
conserving gasoline.
One way is to keep your
automobile “tuned” and
energy efficient.
Making sure of proper tire
pressure takes only a moment
or two, and is a certain fuel
saver.
You can also cut down on fuel
consumption by operating the
car air conditioning system as
little as necessary.
