Big Sisters Entertain
Little Sisters
Girls from the "Gold Mansion" "Rock
House" "Smith House" 310 Grove and
the dormitory gathered in the parlors
of I Ioward Payne I lall clad in pajamas
at 9 p.m. Tuesday evening September
24 lor the annual Big Sister-Little Sister
Paity sponsored by the Dormitory Coun-
cil and the YWA.
As the girls gathered Raye Collier
plaed the piano while each Big Sister
lound her Little Sister. Charlotte Buff
led the group in singing "I've Been Work-
ing On The Railroad." Each Big Sister
(upperclassman) introduced heiself and
told where she was ftom and then in-
troduced her freshman Little Sister tell-
ing her home town or if a transfer from
what school.
The Uotmitory President Doris Sni-
der then took charge of the program
and Alineola Martin was elected Reporter
lor the Dormitory Council.
Each house represented was responsible
lor some form of entertainment. "We
Shall IIae Onions for Breakfast" was
the stunt given by the "Gold Mansion."
The "Smith House" enacted a scene in
which a taxi cab was to run into a beau-
tiful Noung lady but it could not since
t was a "yellow cab."
Serious minded third floor as it was
slid to be was represented by Wilma
Turner who gave her conception of "The
Tluee Cats." "Dele" Landry and Mary
B. Caiter repiesenting second floor gave
Big Sisters Margaret Ann Morton and
Little Sister Betty Casstevens a chemistry
e.am. That consisted of identifying sev-
eral objects according to smell while
blindfolded. Margaret Ann made the bet-
ter grade.
The "Rock House" portrayed a wed-
ding. Che Chee Govett selected Pat
Russell Joyce Jones and Lila Slaughter
to desciibe a Beedle Boozle. Miss Gladys
I licks was the Beedle Boole described
and many unbelievable characters were
attributed to her.
Refreshments of apples and pepper-
mint candy was served to the 120 girls
present. The party ended with the sing-
mo of the alma mater.
Morning Watch Has
Good Attendance
Morning Watch sponsored by BSU
is held everv morninu at 7:30 in the
auditoiium ol the Hist Baptist Church.
This meeting is ndcl lor the purpose of
helping students hegin the day in the
right spirit. I let.i Lindley and Edward
Cariett were elected by the BSU last
spring to seie as leaders of Morning
Watch. Evelyn Roberts is pianist.
The theme lor the week of September
loth through the 21st was Evangelism
and several students took part in order
to help cany out the theme. Monday
morn iti Jimmy Allen brought the de-
votional and Jo Ziebig Joyce Christian
and Rac Collier lendered the special
music.
Edward Gariett delivered the message
Tuesday morning with Eloise Roberts
bringing a message in song.
Wednesday moining Mary Alice Gas-
ton sang a solo alter which Bobbie Ham-
ilton gave a talk. Dr. Ilomberry brought
the message Thursday morning and Jim-
my Franklin hi ought the one for Friday
morning. Satuiday morning the devotional
was biought by S. L. 1 larris. Monday
morning September 2-S the message was
biought bv Dan Smith.
The week ol September the 23rd be-
an with Dan Smith bringing a devo-
tional. Pat 'I lammell spoke Tuesday
morning and Wednesday morning a
musical was presented by Evelyn Roberts
and Tiuett Black.

Dr. White pastor of the First Baptist
Church Austin is a graduate of Howard
Payne College and will be remembered
by students and towns people for previous
addresses made here.
John Wakefield ministerial student at
Baylor is the leader of the Baplor Re-
ligious Hour. He has had wide experience
in youth meetings throughout Texas. He
led a mass youth meeting in St. Louis
Missouri las't summer. Reverend Wake-
field who served in the Army as lieuten-
ant is a junior in Baylor University.
The Howard Payne Library open horn
8:00 a.m. 'til 10:00 p.m. has some new
improvements since the last winter term.
There are 1 1 librarians to aid the stu-
dents in the use of the library.
The library has a new set of chairs a
new newspaper nick new bookshelves
and i shipment of new books as yet
unpacked composed mostly of English
and History books.
The old newspapers and magazines
have been moved across the hall from
the hbiaiy but the new ones will be
lound in their pioper places in the li-

All books may be checked out for two
.eeks except books on reserve and en-
. : 'opedias which aie not to be taken
from the libiary. In checking out a book
each student is required to fill out two
cauls to be left with the librarian.

KBWD Broadcasts
H. P. Football Games
The football game between the Ho-
ward Payne Yellow Jackets and the East
Texas Lions at Commerce Saturday night
will be carried by both radio station
KBWD Brownwood and station KPLT
Paiis Texas. Radio station KBWD has
carried both of the games of the last two
weeks with Texas A&I and Louisiana
Tech.
As a public service radio station KBWD
has arranged for a 15 minute program
every Tuesday night at 8:15 p.m. Coach
Cheaney is being interviewed at these
meetings with reference to the game the
previous week. The highlights of the
game will be thoroughly discussed.
New Officers Added
To B. S. U. Council
The B.S.LI. Council met on the eve-
ning of Tuesday September 17 at 6:30
p.m. in the B.S.LI office and elected
three new members to replace those who
have tesigned.
Charlotte Walton was elected to re-
place Rit.i Calloway as secretaiy.
Ida Armstrong was elected to icplace
Velna I lodges as co-iadio chairman.
Bill I Iogue was elected to replace
Buddy Jones as devotional vice-president.
Piita Calloway did not return to school
this semester. Velna Hodges and Buddy
Jones resigned because ol other responsibilities.
