The County Fair exhibit hall was
crowded with hundreds of people last
night, and there were still other hun-
dreds who were not able to get into
the hall. Next year it is hoped that
a real large and roomy exhibit hall
will be available. However-, it is good
to see the people taking such an in-
terest in the home show.
The term slacker is used glibly
concerning the young man who tries
to evade military service when called
on. But what of the man who has
money and refuses to buy Liberty
Bonds? There are more kinds of
slackers than the one most frequent-
ly denounce*!.
The spirit of co-operation in this
town and county is a most gratifying
thi/ig, and will prove a valuable as-
set. Help to promote such a spirit.

Tonight prices only 5 and 10 cents.
Extra good program. Mary . Miles
Minter, the most lovable of all screen
stars, in “Annie for. Spite,” a human
little story for all members^ of the
family. A story that every woman
and child should see and yet strong
enough to have an appeal for men.
“Annie for Spite,” is just a poor little
orphan girl whose wildest dreams are
articles of faith with her, and who is
not at all surprised when “the million
dollar lady” adopts her out of sur-
roundings that are sordid and mean.
Also tonight a Paramount comedy
with Victor Moore.
Tomorrow, Viola Dana in “Alladin's
Other Lamp,” a Metro wonderplay,
also Fatty Roscoe Arbuckle in “Hii
Wedding Night.”
Coming soon, “The Slacker.”

The school is about two miles from
where our quarters are, so we march
down to school every morning and to
chaw (meals). There are three com-

enlisted as apprentice seamen), who
are learning the trade (coppersmith).

give them my best regards.

Here we* are, beloved, living in a
heavily wooded country, with hun-
dreds of thousands of cords of fire-
wood around us and yet very little
to be obtained. The farmers, who
usually supply the town its wood,
are busy with their high pric-
ed CTOps, and they are working with
a limited supply of labor, and say they
have no time to get out the usual wood [
supply. Many owners of timbered
tracks say they would be glad to em-
ploy labor and have some of the |
lands cleared up, but the labor does
not seem to be had, and the land goes
uncleared.
In the meantime the wood problem
is a serious one, with the demand
