home to be w ith the Lord on June II.
2011 as a result of a I ff year struggle
with Al/heimer'sdisease. She was
born in < >akman. (ieorgta on October
26. I *)3() to Paul and Leola Black.
Lois lived a long, happy life and
was a toy to be around. She was
always . positive, loving and kind.
She graduated from high school at 16
and itnwed to , Atlanta. (ieorgta.
I luring her early 20 s. she worked for
the Home Insiirattee Company while
living in Atlanta. She served in the
; iaval Reserve and one weekend a
month would work at the Naval Air
Station I ois met the love ol her life.

. date at an Air Force Squadron patty
At the time. Rex w as a training NCO
for the Air force: I hey married in
Atlanta and moved to Baytown - in
1954.
I ois became a ( hn-it mat an early
age and was an active church member
her entire adult life. She loved the
Lord and faithfully followed Him,
Her involvement in Sunday school
and sanctuary' choir are just a few of
the many activities she participated
in She and Rex were members of
First Baptist Church for many years
before transferring their membership
to Memorial Baptist. Die couple
resided in Baytown until 1980 when
they moved to the west side of
Houston. There, they were active
members of Ta I lowood Baptist where
Lois was involved in mission projects
and the ladies auxiliary . After Lois
and Rex retired, they moved to San
Marcos where they became active in
First Baptist Church. Lots participated
in Meals on Wheels, Sunday school
and other mission activities there.
They loved the hill country and all
the many close friends in San Marcos.
Their lunch bunch gjoup was particularly
special to her.
Mrs. Couch was in the insurance
industry for 40 years. Lois’ work
was always very important to her and
because of the quality of her work,
her employers and customers held
her in high regard. She was also a
wonderful mother whose unconditional
love was always evident. The
relationship that she and her family
shared has been sorely niLssed thmughout
the latter years of her disease Her
grandchildren were a delight in her
life and she loved spending time with
them. She was wonderful in the
kitchen and looked forward to making
anything that her grandchildren
requested. Lois was a loving wife,
mother and grandmother who always
took time for family.
Lois was preceded in death by
their still bom child and their infant
son. John Wesley Goodnight Couch
She is survived by her husband of 57
years. Rex Goodnight Couch, her
daughter and son-in-law, Pam and
Chris Warford of Baytown, her
grandson, Brandon Warford and
wife. Kristen, of Waco, and
granddaughter. Lauren Williams and
husband, Bob, of Houston.
The family would like to extend
their deepest appreciation to her
caregivers at St. James House for the
love and care shown to her throughout
her 6 year stay and to Dr. (ireg Terrv
for his care for Lois and his guidance
given to her family.
The family will hold a memorial
service at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June
22 in the Chapel of Memorial Baptist
Church. 600 W. Sterling in Baytown,
A visitation is scheduled immediately
following the service until 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to the Memorial Baptist
Church Building Fund, 600 W.
Sterling, Baytown, 77520 or to the
Texas Baptist Children’s Home, P.O,
Box 7; Round Rock, Texas, 7X6X0-

Texas, on August 16. 1931 to Taft
Joseph and Ethel Mullini.x Konecny .
(ilona was a lifelong resident of
Baytown and loved her community
dearly. She graduated from Robert E.
Lee High School in 1947 and was a
member of the Brigadeers. She
married Lamar Kelley on April 12.
1952. Gloria dedicated her life to the
serv ice of God and the care of her
family. A longtime member of Cedar
Bayou Grace United Methodist Church.
Gloria was a St. Stephen minister for
more than ten years, and was a staple
on many church committees. She
could always be counted on to
coordinate a meal, volunteer tor a
pro ject, or take charge of any task to
help her church
Gloria is preceded in death by her
parents, and her husband. She is
survived and will be dearly missed by
her children, Kerry Kelley. Jan and
Alan Sexton and Patrick and Lisa
Kelley. She will be especially missed
by her grandchildren who provided
her with the greatest joy: Thomas B.
: Nelson ill (Trey). John Travis and
Meredith Nelson. Katherine and Eric
Lange. Thomas Paul Allison. Will
and Laura Sexton, Chase Kelley
Jacobsen, Erica Kelley and Wyatt
Schoppe. Gloria is also survived by
great-grandchildren who became a
very special part of her heart in the
last years of her 1 ife: Connor Rae and
Ava Elizabeth Nelson, and a great-
grandson that she would have been
thrilled to welcome in October.

her memory special family friends

made in Gloria’s memory to St.
Mark 's United Methodist Church.

a bookkeeper from Cooper T. Smith

Robert E. Lee High School in 1957:
She loved her family, grandchildren,
friends and pets. She displayed
kindness, generosity , humor and values
to all whomet her. (tail was the best
mom and mcme in the world. Site
enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking,
and family and friend gatherings. She >
will be deeply missed by all who
knew- and loved her.

special thanks to Brenda Williams for
providing exceptional love and care
during her illness.

loving family by his side. Hardiman
or “Pop" by his family and friends is
a lifelong resident of the Crosby area,
in Hardiman’s free time he enjoyed
many things such as fishing and
gardening; but w'hat he loved most of
all were the times he shared with his
family and friends. Fond memories
will always be cherished of Hardiman’s
good since of humor; his strong,
patient, understanding and loyal nature;
how he loved to help others and
especially how much he loved his
family. Hardiman will be deeply
missed by all who knew him. Hardiman
is preceded in death by his father.
