On Wednesday, August
3, employees from the
ExxonMobil Mont
Belvieu Plastics Plant
(MBPP) visited the West
Chambers Brandi of the
Chambers County Library
System to bring exciting
science activities to the
summer reading program.
This special-event activity
was designed to engage
local students for an after-
noon of chemistry and
fim.
ExxonMobil employees
Andre Dallaire, Robbie
Gordon, Josh Stoll, Sasha
Seams, Sarah Davidson,
Francisco Garcia, Marcus
Hayer, Karen Adams and
Laura lacoviello engaged
the kids with chemistry
experiments to demon-
strate the properties of
polymers; led hands-on
activities like making
slime and shared the many
ways in which chemistry
touches everyone's daily
life. The volunteers
encouraged the attendees
to keep asking questions
about how and why things
work the way they do and
to study hard in subjects
like math and science.
Safety Engineer Robbie
Gordon, or "Engineer
Robbk” for toe day said,
"Stay focused in school
and keep exploring sci-
ence and math because
one day you could be the
next scientist or engineer
for a company like Exxon-
Mobil.” In addition to this
volunteer activity,
ExxonMobil made its
annual contribution of
Si000 to the West
Chambers Branch in sup-
port of the summerreading
program
