MONTANA MAIDS - Sherri Johnston Pun Huff aod Jan
Peyer pose by one of the can that brought them to Howard
Payne. The threesome is being featured this week in this spot
which will introduce new students. Yellow Jacket Photo by Jeff
Shirley.
Freshman threesome
are enjoying choice
Pam Sherri and Jan have
something in common. They are
all from Big Sky Country-
Montana. Pam Huff who comes from
Great Falls did not know Sherri
Johnston and Jan Peyer who
are from Three Forks until
they met at Howard Payne.
The threesome from Montana
is quite happy with their choice
of college. They heard of
Howard Payne from a quartet
of HPC missionaries.
They all three wanted a
Christian education and all of
them think that Howard Payne
will provide for thier needs.
Sherri and Jan are the sports
nuts. They both belong to the
women's intramural football
team called "Chumps." Jan
proudly wears her team
number. It is "00".
Pam enjoys singing and the
piano. A Christian Ministries
major she hopes to go into
youth work in Indian reservations.

Senate votes
to spond monoy
An uneventful and short slate
of business was transacted by
the student senate this past
Tuesday night as it met in the
student government conference
room.
The senators did agree to
spend money on at least three
items.
S. A. President Larry Sparks
reported that Nancy Stevens
had resigned as his secretary
and that Sherrle Walters had
agreed to become his new
secretary.
The senators voted to allocate
$250 as a stipend for the new
secretary with funds coming
from the S. A. budget.
Sparks said that Miss Walters
would be paid $200 dollars this
semester with $50 going to Miss
Stevens for the work she had
been doing. The new secretary
will be paid the full $250 next
semester.
The senate also voted to pay
$66 for notebooks for each
member. These notebooks will
be issued to senators and are
designed to help them keep up
with all matters pertaining to
student government.
Senators also voted to
allocate a total of $20 as prize
money for the Freshman
parade which will be held today.
The cheerleaders will judge
the best dressed male and
female Freshman during the
parade and award each one a
prize of $10.
In other business senators
heard Sparks lcport that the
Homecoming Committee had
recommended both a parade
and a carnival. Vicky Williams
chairman of the Homecoming
Committee had stated previous
to the Tuesday meeting that she
was under the impression that
the committee had authority to
make the final decision.
Sparks stated that final
authority would come from the
senate. When he asked the
senate for its opinion he found a
Leadership lab
to be conducted
A "Leadership Training Lab"
sponsored by the Dean of
Students Office will be held
tomorrow in Winebrenner Hall
of Science.
According to Miss Cheryl
Reese assistant dean of
divided audience and the
discussion ended in the tabling
of the entire matter.
Some senators proposed that
the senate not finance any float
building this year.
The argument against that
proposition was that awarding
of that money was the only way
the senate had of insuring that
the barns are cleaned after the
floats are built.
Organizations that build
floats have in the past received
funding from the senate but
only after the parade is over
and the barns where the floats
were built have been cleaned.

students the conference is
designed for campus
organization officers who will
be conducting various types of
meetings during the school
year.
The conference begins at 8
a.m. and will wind up at noon.
After an opening introduction
to parliamentary procedure and
a short general session the
students will break into small
groups for discussion. The
smaller groups will hear guest
speakers discuss three areas
including "Attributes of a
Leader" "Mechanics of
Organization" and "Goals for
Organizations at HPC."
At 11 a.m. a general session
will be held with each group
contributing their ideas to a
broad discussion of
organizational and group ac-
tivity. Miss Reese will then
conduct a final discussion of
parliamentary procedure.
