win over Port Arthur

improved to 4-10 in 21-5A

pitcher while leadoff batter
Derek Paddie went I-2 at
the plate with three runs
scored and two stolen

Jerrod Odom led the
Rangers with three RBIs

Sterling will close out
their season on Friday
when they host Port Arthur
Memorial at 7 p.m.

Baytown Christian
Academy added to their
.trophy ease last week
when three individuals and
one team brought home
state championships in
their respective sports.
At the T-CAL State
Track and Field Meet in
San Antonio on April 16.
Cornelius Hawkins won
the state championship in
the 110-meter hurdles with
a time of I7.l seconds
while also taking home the
state title in the 300-meter
hurdles with a time of 43.7
seconds
Hawkins placed third in
the 100-meter run with a
time of 12 seconds.
Bulldog teammate
Dexter Phillip claimed the
state title in the 3200-
meter run after clocking a
time of 10:44.6 and was
the runner-up in the 1600-
meter run with a time of
4:59.4.
"Due to running into a
head wind, their times
were a bit slower than
usual, but they still man-
aged to run great races."
said BCA track coach
Mark Ilel/er.
The BCA girls' tennis
squad dominated the T-
CAL Tennis State
Championship Tourna-
ment in New Braunfels on
April 18-19 as they took
home the women's singles
and women 's doubles state
championships in the
Silver Division.
It was the second sear in
a row the BCA girls' tennis
team has won the overall
state championship in the
silver division.
“Tennis is very unique
and very competitive. Our
players have met their
challenges for two years
now and I'm proud of
them." said BCA tennis
coach Tracy Burgason.
