Outdoor workshop
registration still open
Students may still register for the Outdoor Education
Workshop to be held May 18-24 said Dr. Merlin Morrow head of
the department of physical education and recreation.
The workshop will be held at Zephyr Baptist Encampment
located on Lake Corpus Christi near Mathis.
Activities at the camp will include sailing water skiing
canoeing target and field archery water safety and riflery and
trapshooting.
The course may be taken as one hour of physical education ac-
tivity credit three hours of credit for a recreation major or
minor or one two or three hours advanced electives.
Cost for the workshop will vary. The regular $55 per hour
tuition fee will be charged plus a $25 lab fee. Room and board
will be $59.50 for the six days.
Registration is limited to the first 36 students who sign up.
Anyone interested may register or talk with Dr. Morrow about
y he camp in his office in the gym.
Heritage Singers
to tour South
Texas next week
The Heritage Singers will be
touring the South Texas area
during spring break March 8-12
said Dr. John Francis director.
The tour will begin First
Baptist in Beeville Sunday
morning then will go on to
Primera Iglesia Bautista de
Corpus Christi. Monday night
the group will be at Lytle Bap-
tist church Tuesday night at
Pearsall Baptist church and
then Wednesday night they will
end their tour in Kirby Baptist
church in San Antonio.

A group of students from
Howard Payne will be going to
Zapata and two small towns
surrounding Zapata March 8-16

The group will be leading
services visitations and wit-
nessing in the high school and
churches in this area. The
churches are providing the
living quarters and meals will
be cooked by the students in the
fellowship hall.

Miss Brownwood deadline today
The deadline for entering the Miss Brownwood Scholarship
Pageant is today says Jaycee Rob Firestone.
The Brownwood Jaycees are sponsoring the pageant which is
affiliated with the Miss America Scholarship Pageant. The win-
ner of the Miss Brownwood title will advance to the Miss Texas
Pageant and then could go to the Miss America Pageant if she
wins the Miss Texas title.
Unmarried women 18-26 are eligible to enter the contest and
Firestone encouraged Howard Payne coeds to file by today for
the April 19 pageant to be held at Brownwood High School.
Contestants will be judge on poise personality talent and
swimsuits. A scholarship will be awarded to the winner
Firestone said there is no entry fee for the pageant.

April 8 census workers will be
on campus and will stay until
they complete taking in-
formation in the dorms says
Dr. Harris. He also said studen-
ts should be sure that they are
not counted in the census by
their parents although this will
be explained on the census form
parents will receive.
