CENTENNIAL PARADE
Brownwood's Centennial Parade which was rained out
last Saturday has been rescheduled for 9:30 tomorrow
morning said Louise Herdman parade chairman.
The regularly scheduled lineup will be used for the
parade according to Mrs. Herdman.
SENIOR ART SHOW
HP art major Robert Reyes will present his art show
beginning Sunday afternoon in the HP Art Gallery on
Fisk Avenue across from Taylor Hall.
The show will continue through April 19 and is open
to students and the general public from 2 until 5 p.m.
daily.
The show will consist of the student's work in
sculpture watercolors commercial art pastels and
other media.
The senior art show is a requirement for all
graduating art majors.
ARA
ARA Food Service will be sponsoring a campus cook-
off contest on April 26 said ARA Director Bill Shults.
The contest will involve the cooking of a Texas-style
stew by campus organizations participating in the
event Shults said. All ingredients will be provided by
ARA he said.
Organizations who would like to participate in the
cook-off should contact Shults at Ext. 361 by Monday.
Cash prizes will be awarded.
ARA has also scheduled a hamburger picnic for
Tuesday's evening meal. The picnic will be held at the
Bell Towers next to Veda Hodge Hall.
The Richardson Hall cafeteria will be closed for the
event Shults said.
CHAPEL-CONVOCATION
The non-academic awards ceremony will be held
Tuesday during chapel.
The academic awards convocation will be held
Thursday.
ACADEMIC BANQUET
Students interested in attending the academic ban-
quet on April 17 but who have not been sent an invita-
tion may attend the event by making reservations
with Vickie Stilwell Ext. 303 before April 12.
The cost of the banquet without invitation is $6.50.
The banquet will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Hodge
Cafeteria.
ROTC
The HP ROTC is sponsoring a command retreat (for-
mal lowering of the flag) Wednesday in front of Old
Main at 4:30 p.m. said Cadet Sgt. Lane Bates.
Everyone is invited.
The cadets do this once a month to become familiar
with the procedures Bates explained.
BSU BLOOD DRIVE
The Baptist Student Union will sponsor a blood drive
Tuesday and Wednesday between the hours of 9 a.m.
and 5 p.m. Paul Sullivan BSU director said.
The United Blood Service will be in the Jennings Hall
lobby on Tuesday and the Richardson Hall lobby on
Wednesday.
HP students donated 170 pints of blood in February
Sullivan said.
UIL ONE-ACT PLAYS
The University Interscholastic League AAAA
Regional One-Act Play Contest hosted by Howard
Payne will be held at Brownwood High School Satur-
day said Dr. Henry Lindsey dean of the HPU General
College and play contest director.
"There will be four excellent one-act plays to be
presented with the two winning plays advancing to the
state competition level" said Dr. Lindsey. "Howard
Payne drama students will be running the contest and
it is an excellent opportunity for anyone who is in-
terested in good theater."
The competition starts at 1 p.m. with admission set
at $2 for adults and $1 for students.

All-School Sing 'success'
The first annual Howard
Payne All-School Sing
sponsored by HP's Student
Foundation was "enor-
mously successful" said
Mrs. Pat Hailey assistant
to the president at HP and
sponsor of SF.
The event a part of the
6th annual Jacket Jubilee
was held Saturday April 7
in Mims Auditorium and
drew one of the biggest
crowds ever for an SF
sponsored show. The lower
part of the auditorium was
almost full and there were
some people in the balcony
Mrs. Hailey said.
There were several acts
in the show four of which
entered the competition for

Singers won the first place
prize of $100 in the "six or
over performers"

judges for the acts. They
based their decisions on
music choreography and
costuming and staging
Mrs. Hailey said.
Everyone was pleased
with the overall produc-
tion "and we hope it will be
even bigger and better next
year" she added.
