Weekly broiler placements totaled 5.04
million chicks, up 3 percent from last year
but down 4 percent from the previous
week.
Producers hatched 5.37 million chicks, 82
percent of the eggs set during the week of
February 7. The hatch dropped 2 percent
from a year ago and 5 percent from last
week.
The weekly set, at 6.94 million, was down 1
percent from last year. The set was up 2

chicks to Arkansas. No inshipments were
received during the week.
TWELVE STATES
In the twelve leading broiler producing
states weekly placements totaled 86.92
million chicks, up 5 percent from a year
ago but down 1 percent from last week.
The weekly egg set increased 6 percent
from last year to 116.33 million. The set
