Weekly broiler placements totaled 5.39
million chicks, up 5 percent from last year
but down 1 percent from the previous
week.
Texas producers hatched 5.63 million
chicks, 82 percent of the eggs set during
the week of March 14. The hatch dropped
1 percent from a year ago and 2 percent
from last week.
The weekly egg set increased 1 percent
from last week to 7.15 million eggs. The
set was down 2 percent from a year earlier.NON r N G
Texas producers shipped 202,000 broiler
chicks to Arkansas. No inshipments were
received during the week.
TWELVE STATES
In the twelve leading broiler producing
states weekly placements totaled 90.33
million chicks, up 6 percent from last year
and up slightly from the previous week.
The weekly egg set, at 117.92 million, was
7 percent above a year ago. The set was
