white bass very good on popping corks and small topwaters
catfish good to 4 pounds on cutbait and shrimp
SOUTHEAST
CONROE: Water clear, 79 degrees, 16 inches low; black bass
improving since the rains Sunday which cooled the water some,
fish in 8-12 feet on worms, cranks, topwaters early: striper and
white bass slow; crappie slow; catfish good to excellent to 3
pounds all over the lake on nightcrawlers, stink baits, white
amur good to 30 pounds from bank and piers at Loch Ness and
Shiloh Marinas on Papa Earls Catachem and treble hooks baited
with range cubes. Bream excellent.
HOUSTON COUNTY Water clear, 90 degrees, normal level black
bass fairly slow to 10 pounds on black lizards; striper slow to
near 2 pounds; crappie good to 30 per boat on minnows; white bass
slow; catfish slow,
LIVINGSTON: Water clear, 80 degrees, 10 inches low; black bass
good to 4 pounds on dark worms, Rat-L-Traps, cranks striper
slow at night on minnows; crappie fairly slow, some moving into
creeks, a catch of 10 fish per string considered good; white bass
good to 30 fish per string on slabs or trolling; catfish
improving on trotline to 5 pounds
RAYBURN: Water clear, 78 degrees, 2 feet below pool; black bass
excellent to 8 pounds, 5 ounces on jigs and worms, a weekend
tournament on Rayburn required a 70 pound total string to win,
most on jigs; striper slow; crappie fair to 15 fish per person on
minnows' white bass slow catfish fair on minnows and shrimp.
Bream good on crickets and worms.
TOLEDO BEND: Water clear, 91 degrees, 6 feet low; black bass fair
to 6 1/4 pounds on Smokey Joe Rat-L-Traps, bone colored Chuggers
and Tequila Sunrises; striper real slow; crappie beginning to
bite again at 8-10 feet on Twistertail jigs strolling white bass
slow; catfish slow.
SOUTH
AMISTAD: Water clear, 80 degrees, conservation level black bass
good to 5 pounds on purple worms in the shallow water around salt
cedars: striper good to 26 pounds from Marker 10-18 on 2 ounce
Sassy Shad early and late; crappie slow; white bass slow; catfish
excellent with limits tQ 4 pounds on cheese, worms and
stinkbait,
BRAUNIG: Water fairly clear, 83 degrees, normal level black
bass slow; striper slow; crappie slow; channel catfish fair to 4
pounds on shad or liver redfish fair to 16 pounds on tilapia;
corvina slow,
CALAVERAS: Water clearing, normal level black bass slow to
4 3/4 pounds on worms; striper slow; crappie slow; catfish slow,
a good number of small channel catfish around 12-13 inches: a
single yellow catfish to 14 pounds on squid; redfish slow the
number of fishermen down considerably since the front hit late
last week,
CHOKE: Water clear, normal level; black bass picking up slightly
to 8 pounds on dark worms striper slow; crappie fair with some
limits on minnows, fish good sized; white bass slow; catfish
excellent to 9 pounds on rod and reel with stinkbait and Roger's
Cheese Bait over areas baited with soured grain
COLETO CREEK: Water clear, 86 degrees, normal level; black bass
