transfer credits were the subject of
two new policy changes instated

hope to have less misunderstand-

policy also states that a student must

guys" Dill said. "We just want to
protect the integrity of the degree.
All colleges arc not created equal."

honors
program
SPECIAL TO THE YJ
An honors program for
freshmen and sophomores has
been added to Howard Payne
University's Academy of Free-
dom announced Justin Murphy
interim director. This fall under-
classmen will be able to enter ad-
vanced study through an "Honors
Level" in the Academy.
Students arc required to en-
roll in introductory honors courses
selected from history political sci-
ence psychology or sociology.
Students who maintain a
3.S5 grade point average after
completion of 60 semester hours
of courscwork will be eligible to
apply for admission to the regular
Academy program now referred
to as the "Scholars Level."
According to Murphy this
change is the result of an empha-
sis on recruiting.
"In the past wc had had a
disadvantage in recruiting high
school honors students because
they would have to wait until their
junior year before they could be-
gin their honors program in the
Academy of Freedom" Murphy
said.
"The Academy is a great
tool to reach students through a
program other universities do not
have. 1 think this will prove to be
