The academy's purpose is to
equip future leaders in the profes-
sional equine industry with job
training in a rigorous environment
which will provide practical horse-
manship knowledge specific skills
and experience and help develop
the conviction to live a Christian
horseman's lifestyle.

The Christian Horseman
Academy is a non-traditional pro-
gram. All students will be required
to maintain a schedule of work
classes horsemanship training and
Christian service.
The academy will begin by
offering two tracks of study: a two-
year horsemanship certification pro-
gram or the tirst two years of a tra-
ditional four-year college program
with an emphasis on horsemanship
certification. All students will be
required to participate in Biblical
studies and service programs.
Dawson McAllister a national
youth speaker has teamed up with
several world champion horsemen
seeking to address the spiritual con-
cerns within the horse culture. Their
vision is to combine the passionate
commitment of individuals to horses
with an understanding and commit-
ment to Jesus Christ.

Jordan Craig Johnson Shannon
Hall. Punk Carter and Scott Mendcs
are teaming up to meet this challenge
through the training of future lead-
ers in the industry.

Six Howard Payne Univer-
sity students have been chosen to
participate in the National Wind
Ensemble.
The group will perform on
May 31I')W at Carnegie Hall in
New York. The ensemble will be
directed by II. Robert Reynolds
Director of University Bands and
Director of Division of Instrumen-
tal Studies in the School of Music
at the University of Michigan. The
ensemble performs once a year in
the spring and holds auditions ev-
ery fall.

The HPU students chosen for the
ensemble were: Kristic Self sopho-
more alto saxophonist; Trenton Lee
Kendrick senior bassoon player;
Shannon Woods sophomore clari-
net player; Kenneth lyescas senior
french hornist; Robert Harlan
McBec senior trombonist; and John
Timpani freshman trumpeter. Ac-
cording to Mr. Tom Webster assis-
tant professor of music the en-
semble is composed of seventy-five
instrumentalists.

Trent Kendrick said "I was
surprised and honored. I'm glad to
be able to represent Howard Payne
