officiating.
The bride is the daughter, pf
Dr. and Mrs. Curtis,Eckhardt.
She is a 1977 FHS graduate and
1978 graduate , of Durham’s
Business College. She is .em-
ployed at Texas Rehabilitation
Commission in Austin,
The bridegroom’s parents
are Mr., and Mrs. Werner
Schumpelt pf Harper. He is a
1975 graduate of Hprper High
School and attended, Texas
State Technological Institute in
Waco. He is employed as ser-
vice manager at Goodyear in
Austin,
Mary Ann jVTurchl?on was at
the organ for the nuptial music.
Mrs. Melvin Itz sang “Sunrise
Sunset”,, “The ford’s Prayer”,
and “You Light Up My Life”.
The aitar, boys were David
Pohler and Scott Immel.
Chprch depor included
baskets of white glads, blue
iris, blue statice, white mums,
greenery and candelabra.
White ,bows were used on the
pews.
.The bride wqs escorted to the
altar, by her father. (She wore a
formal gown of white organza
with high empire bodice. The
Queen Anne neckline, bishop
sleeves and, chapel train were
accented with scalloped Venice
lace, rose appliques and pearl
beads. Her headpiece and veil
were trimmed with Venice lace
and flowers. She wore a
diamond pecklace and
earrings, a gift from groom-
She , carried ,a traditional
bouquet of white , cascading
roses, daisies, baby’s breath,,
snowflake poms and asparagus
fern.
Tammie Eckhardt was her
sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were, Trpcy,
Carla, Terri Eckhardt, sisters
of bride, Jennifer Holmes of
Austin,, Gwen Gorham of
Northridge, Calif., Denise
Ferguson of Ingram, sister, of
groom, and junior bridesmaid
was Connie Eckhardt, sister, of
bride. They wore formal gowns
of blue organza with,,flounced
hem and fabric rose attached to
waistband. They carried
nosegays fashioped ip a hand-
picked bouquet , with car-
nations tipped in blue, circled
with white daisies, s,nowflake
poms, baby’s breath, and
asparagus fern.
Germaine Eckhardt,
daughter of the Dayton
Eckhardts, end Shauna Kunkel,
daughter, of the .Dale Kunkels of
Austin, of Austin, were flower
gir.ls. They wore dresses
matching the, bridesmaids and
carried baskets of white daisies
and blue tinted cushioned
poms.
Mark Schumpelt, of Austip,
served as his brother’s best
man.
Groomsmen were Mike Jung,
Carl Eckhardt, brother of ,the
bride, John Holmes of Austin,
Gene Rahe of Dallas, Timmy
Loth,, Mike Kunz of San
Antonio, and junior groomsman
was Ricky Rogers. Ushers
were James , Braeutigam pf
Austin,, Dayton Eckhardt,
Larry Esquell of Harper, and
Warrep Burrer.
Jonathon Esquell, son of the
Larry Esquells, was ringbear-
er.
A reception, dipner, and
dance followed at .Pioneer
Pavilion in Lady Bird Johnson

Decor for the stage was a
garden scepe with, liveoak trees
trimmed with white doves, rod
iron furniture,, and greenery.
Hanging .baskets were, hung
throughout the hall. The tables
were covered in white with
candle centerpieces.
The bride’s cake was a four-
tiered colonade with blue flow-
ers and tppped with a bride and
groom; the groom’s cake, a
doubled horseshoe-shqped con-
fection decorated with quail
and cornshuck flowers.
About 500 , guests , including
.the grandparents,, Mrs. Ger-
trude, Jung, Mrs. , Lydia
Braeutigam, and, Kurt Eck-
hardt. Special guests were Mpp.
Johnny Bohpc of Bartlett,,
James Braeutigam of Austin,
.Mrs. Louis Korus of San An-
topio, and Tony Jung, godpar-

home in Austin.

Miss Bertha Res,smann was
taken by surprise at her home
at 306 N. Acorn St. Saturday,
Mar. 3, on her 68th birthday.
Her brothers and relatives
.arrived to extend happy bir-
thday wishes and baskets filled
with , delicious dishes for a
sumptuous noon dinner.
Guests included her brothers,
Robert end Bessie Ressmann of
San Antonio and Richard and
Meta Ressmann of here; nieces
and nephews, Miss Frances &
Robert Ressmann, Jr., Betty
Mae (Mrs. Roy) Ressmann of
Harper,, and cousins, Arthur
and Bertha Bernstein of San
Antonio, Laura Rischner, Viola
Juenke, and Eugene and
Raymond Kunz.
Miss Ressmann, the daughter
of the late Emil and Anna Kunz
Ressmann, returned to make
her home here two years ago.
She had retired as a nurses
aide after 20 years at the
Lutheran General Hospital, San
Antonio. Since here, she has
been a volunteer for the Meals
on Wheels program and active
in church work. She also takes
pleasure in caring for the
flowers, and vegetables in the
yard at the former late Malinda
Woerner home, now owned by
Rev. and Mrs. G.A. Schulze Pf
San Antonio.

Yenner hits century mark
In Anglo-Saxon times, a

was "blessed" or "innocent."

Zenner Sunday afternoon,
March 4, when he, was hopored
on his 100th „ birthday at ap
Open House at the Girl Scout
Cabin.
Well ov<?r 250 relatives and
friends attended the Open
House, hosted by his daughters,
Olga, Mrs. Walter, Reeh, Mrs.
Helen Seelig, Ida, “Idie”, Mrs.
Charles Lott,.Mrs. Margaret
Glover, Rita,, Mrs. w Alfred
Enderlin, and daugfiters-in-
law, Thekla, Mrs. John Zenner,
and Annie, Mrs. Lawrence Zen-
ner,.
At a century old,,Mr. Zenner
is,remarkably alert and spry,
with ,zest for life and love of
family, and friends. He reads
without .glasses, enjoys TV
(miss,es no newscasts,,if poss-
ible, taking, great ipterest in
current events. ,He gets around
on his walker.
Mr. Zqnner was borp March
5, 1879, the son of Peter, and
Clara Jordan Zenner. .He
ranched and farmed ,in tbe
Morris Ranch Community until
he sold the acreage in 1965. He
raised sheep, goats,,hogs and
some cattle. He was a trustee
of the Morris Ranch School
Board for years and years; was
on the Election Board of Tivy-
dale, also for.many years.
, He moved to Fredericksburg
tp make his home at 201 Walch
Street, where Rita ,and Alfred
Enderlin live with him.
Opa, as he is affectionately
known, has 12 grandchildren, 27
great-grapdchildren, and one
great-great-grandchild, , Darla
Brandy Bridges, daughter, of
Mrs. . Rick Bridges, grand-
daughter, of August Lott and
great-granddaughter, of Mrs.
Charlie Lott.
The ocpasjop was, the more
joyous in that the octogenarian
wa$ joined jn the celebration by
his two brothers, Harry Zenner
of La Vemia, 84, and Ernst
Zenner, 89.
Re was presented a red rose
boutopniere, gift .from his
daughter, Ida. The birthday
cake, in yellow and .green,
baked by Floripe Egieton ot
Houston (daughter, of Alfred
Epderlips) held a small tree
.with , date , “1879” and larger
tree with ‘‘1979”, indicative qf a
small acorn and its .growth..
Yellow .flowers in bud vases
were on tables.
Out of town guests were from
La .Habra, Caljf., San Antonio,
Austin, Houston, Kerrville,
Bapdera, La Vernia, Blanco,
Smithyille, Bulverde, Bryan,
New Braunfels, Harper, San
Marcos.
On Monday night, March 5,
Rev. Francis Kalina had a
^ass in Mr. Zenner’s home,
attended by members of his
family.

A rehearsal supper was given
by the parents of the groom at
the home of, Mrs. Benno Jung,
