Debbie White, president;
Kelly Steckelberg, 1st vice-

sponsor, went to obtain ideas
from other chapters around
the state on ways of raising
money and having projects
which will help the school
and community.
Over 6,100 students at-
tended the sessions at the
Dallas Convention Center.
Speakers attended to speak
to F.H.A.’ers with enthus-
iasm and excitement.
Spirits were lifted and ideas
were given as all of the
chapters of Texas left Dallas
with smiles on their faces.
Various items were dis-
cussed between state officers
and voting delegates. The big
issue was on the raising of
the F.H.A. dues for the next

Being an F.F.A. Greenhand officer is just as important as being a chapter officer.
A Greenhand officer gains the experience of parliamentary procedure that a
chapter officer needs to know.
This year’s Greenhand officers are, top row, left to right, Reporter Johnny Raz,
President Cody Shackelford, Student Advisor Jerry Reddick; bottom row, Secre-
tary Lucretia Esquell, Sentinel Doug Savard, Treasurer Tyler Wilke and Vice-
President Keith Folsom.

Mary Peril and Cody Shackelford
Win at Harper Rodeo
Two stand-outs at teh Har-
per Jr. Rodeo, Saturday,
April 23, were Mary Peril
and Cody Shackelford.
Mary won the poles in the
little Pee Wee group and this
helped her win the all-
around buckle. Mary and her
horse, “Roanie,” ran the
poles like a true champion
with the fans cheering her
on. If you should see Mary,
notice the shiny new buckle
she is wearing.
Cody Shackelford also won
a buckle Saturday in the
break-away calf roping. Cody
and “Roscoe” slipped the
rope over the calf s neck in a
quick 3 seconds.
In the big Pee Wee group,
Kim Pickens placed 4th in
the barrels.
In the senior division that
night, Jody Shackelford
placed third in the barrels.
Others participating from
Harper were Jeff Bode,
Tommy Bode, Jody Lange,
Jim Peril and Johnny Raz.
You will probably see these
cowboys and cowgirls at
many more rodeos.

PHYLLIS PARKER
GRONA
“Here comes the bride,
here comes the bride.” Phyl-
lis Parker exchanged vows
'with Stanley Grona, March
12, 1983. She considers this
an extra-curricular activity.
Phyllis is a 17-year-old
country girl that was born
November 11, 1965, at Red
Bluff, California, to Mr. and
Mrs. Clayton Parker I. Her
immediate family members
include her sister, Cynthia
Danos, and her brother,
Clayton Parker II.
Phyllis has attended Har-
per I.S.D. all of her life, and
has held offices in F.H.A. her
freshman and sophomore
years, F.F.A., her junior
year, and C.V.A.E., this
year.
Phyllis’ tastes range from
Mexican food to the color yel-
low. Her favorite singer is
one that many people enjoy,
George Strait. Of course, her
favorite song would have to
be “Amarillo by Morning.”
She likes to see action-
packed movies, especially
when they contain Salley
Fields, and Dyan Cannon, or
Bo Hopkins and Joe Don
Baker. When she sees these
shows, she likes to be with
her favorite person, her hus-
band Stanley. She enjoys
many things, but there is one
thing in particular she can
not tolerate... noisy people.
Since Phyllis is such an
outgoing person, it is natural
that fishing and riding hor-
ses would be her favorite
hobbies.
Graduation time is coming
near for Phyllis, just as it is
for all the seniors. Her plans
after school are to remain
married and perhaps go to
college later on. The only
comment she has about
school is, “Just thankful to
get out of this place.”
