North Texas put up a 36-
point second half outburst to
blow past Idaho, 50-27, last
Saturday night to clinch a
share of the Sun Belt Confer-
ence championship and earn
the league's berth in the in-
augural New Orleans Bowl.
Former Llano star Bradley
Kasseil is a middle line-
backer for the Mean Green
and will join his team Decem-
ber 18 for the inaugural New
Orleans Bowl, taking on
Colorado State at 6 p.m.
Kasseil is a senior.
The Mean Green (5-5 over-
all, 5-1 Sun Belt) tied Middle
Tennessee for the Sun Belt
championship, but North
Texas' 24-21 win against
Middle Tennessee gave the
Mean Green the advantage
for the New Orleans Bowl
berth. Middle Tennessee (8-
3, 5-1) completed its regular
season with a 38-14 win
against Connecticut, and as
a bowl-eligible team, awaits
a possible at-large berth in
another bowl.
North Texas will return to
a bowl game for the first time
in 42 years, the longest bowl
drought by a Division I-A
team, after playing in the
1959 Sun Bowl.
Colorado State
University’s football team
last week formally accepted
an invitation to the New Or-
leans Bowl. Coach Sonny
Lubick and the school’s direc-

play North Texas in the first-
ever New Orleans Bowl, Dec.
18 at the Louisiana
Superdome. The game will be
