library in memory of Stanley Hor-
len who died June 4, 1967.
Stanley, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Horlen, would have been a
1968 LHS graduate. He was active
in school events and participated
in the regional University Inter-
scholastic League slide rule - con-
test at Lubbock in the spring of
1967
The cabinet was given by his
parents, the 1968 LHS senior class,
and the school. * '
Mrs. A. M. Ratliff, school 11
brarian, said the library had
started pith a small cabinet, due
to the increased number of books
and periodicals had become very
inefficient
The new 15-drawer unit has -a
movable1 top, so that new units
may be added. A memorial plaque
has been placed on the top unit.

Mr. and Mrs. George Pechaoek
were hosts for a barbecue supper,
held on the lawn of their home
Saturday night, honoring their son-
in-law and daughter, Navy Lt. and
Mrs Kenneth T. Welch and daugh-
ter. Jean Elaine, who have just
completed a two-year tour of duty
in Japan.
The Wlech family left Monday
for his new assignment with the
Supply Department at the Naval
Station in Boston. Mass., stopping
en route in Garland to visit Lt.
Welch’s parents, and at other
places along the way to visit
friends.
Prior to his Japan assignment.
Lt. Welch had served a tour of
duty in Vietnam.
