Small raral oommunlttee,

The Llano eighth grade Dau-
bers received a crashing blow
Thursday In Lampasas as a
tough Badger team handed Llano
thatr first defeat.
Most of the game was high-
lighted by outstanding defense
displayed by both teams, as
neither could push the ball a-

mistakes on offense, penetrat-

Of course, that dock has bean

than once but could never get
everything going at once.
Robert Montes attempted a
field goal, but was unsuccess-
ful as the game remained score-
less going Into the fourth quar-
ter. Lampasas took the ball with
about live minutes to go In the
game, and Llano gave up their
first touchdown of the year one
pass right over the middle. The
Badgers went for two and failed
but the damage had already been
done as Lampasas took a 6-0
win.
Llano's record now stands at
two wins and one loss, and the
Daubers have scored 40 points
to their oppoosnets* six after
winning over Mason and Laund-
er in their first two games.
Next week the Daubers will bs
facing another 3A powerhouse
In Fredericksburg. The game
will be played at Llano and
Idckoff time Is about 7:15 p.m.
The Daubers took a hard-
fought victory from the Lsend-
er Cubs, playing at Llano
Thursday, Sept. 12, and they
remained undefeated thus far.
Llano tailback Kevin Fain was
Injured In the first quarter with
a lag Injury, but not before
he picked up 43 yards on Just
two carries and also set up a
Llano touchdown with a long run.
It looked for a while as if
Llano's scoring drive would be
unsuccessful when Robert Mon-
tes’s touchdown run was call-
ed back due to a penalty, but
two plays later, on the same
play, Montes scored again and
this time it was good. Montes
converted on the extra-point
try and Llano took a 7-0 half-
time load.

beef sausage to the National
Press Club In Washington, D.C.
The dinner It In connection
with the club’s big Rodso Night
on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the night
after the general slectlons when
the national press can take a
short breather.
To make the evening more
authentic and memorable, In-
man will complete preparations
for the entire dinner after ar-
riving In the nation’s capital.
Inman will fly with his wide-
ly-known sausage to Washington
whsrs ha’ll be In the good
company of Miss Loratta Lynn,
dinner entertainer.
Western hats have bean
ordered for all guests, In keep-
ing with the evening’s entertain-
ment of trick roping, country
music with guitar accompani-
ment, a rodeo clown riding his
mule through the crowd, and
cowboys and cowgirls present-
ing the hats to members and
mingling with the crowd
throughout the evening.
Inman’s are always busy, but
with the fall season and deer
hunting approaching, they will
be busier than ever.
His customers, practically
all of them repast, Include the
Houston Oilers professional
football team, dinner for na-
tionally-known poltllcans On-
Including at the summer White
House several years ago dt the
late President Johnson when he
entertained a group of foreign
diplomats), and also for top
stats officials, all types of
organizations from state live-
stock raisers and electric co-
operatives to huge church
groups, recreation camps, and
dinners for business firms.
They also serve at such func-
tions ss the Tsxss Prison Ro-
deo etch October, all types of
festivals, and University of
Texas football games.
It was because Inman’s cat-
ered a dinner at San Antonio’s
swank Golden Stallion In July,
which also featured Miss Lo-
retta Lynn, that he was invited
to serve his turkey ssusgage
In Washington.
Inman said the reasons his
turkey and beef sausage receive
such acclaim are because Cen-
tral Texans, who mads them
popular In the first place, live
In one of the best livestock-
raising areas In the country and
know and demand good meat; ha
also said that knowing how to
prspare the meat, and how to
cook It, Is necessary to tasty
sausage.
They turn out about 1,000

continues to Increase steadily.
And so, added to “Deer Capi-
tal of Texas” and "Hill Country
Trail,” Is ’’Llano, Home of
Texas Barbecue.”

WM1. I feel Ilka the first
ttma this season, I saw tbs
Jackets ptay football. Thera
was aoma defense, soma of-
fs nse, and a whole lot of Ml-
'while the Jackets wars taking
a good boating on the soora-
board. Lamps— was finding
how It feels to receive rather
than always give. Needless to
say, Lamps— will be giving
a lot 1Mb season, as 1 feel
they do have a solid team.
Good quarterbacking, oupor
bock In Amos, and testgh runner
In Tbytor; Mao showed they
could play defense.
But the question now arises
about the Jackets. Are they
out, after this game, or wlU
they rebound? Upon examination
or tne team, tne Jackets appear
In batter spirits than anytime
this year. They —mad to re-
cognise what they had accom-
plished after Friday's gams.
They had moved 93 yards
against a good defense, whan
thMr morale should have told
them "What's the uaa.” They
racked up 19 first downs In
three quarters and that’s mov-
ing the football. They found a
couple of quick backs that could
run the football wide, something
the JackMs badly needed this
yaar.
Austin Charlton and Gerald
Kasper proved quickness la
necessary for a balanced at-
tack. While Llano had proven
backs In Gray and Bays, the
outside threat has not bean
present. Also, Shanks and Oar-
eta caught two key pas—.
Offense la beginning to taka
shape. Myers, Robertson, Mitc-
hell, Horrors, Roomer,
Murchison, Aloxmnder, Lawloy,
and Morgan Ml should get credit
for this shift In offensive move-
ment.
Fredericksburg put It on
Brady last week and somewhat
a surprise since the Billies
wars tnougnt to os down witn
many Injuries. YM. the Billies
aren't out at Ml. Appears the
JackMs can't expect an assy one
from tho AAA school to the
south. So, Jackets will be buckl-
ing down and wall Ml be there
to see what our new team of
scrappers can do on the horns
court.
The first game this season
should bring a good crowd.
Also new attraction in home
games Is Llano's own verMon
of Howard Cosell In Weldor
Seellger. Play by play call from
ths former baud mentor M Llano
should give great detail to every
play on the field. Sea you at the
Jacket Sradium.
